Marked By The Mad King Alpha (Phoebe and Perry) novel Chapter 85

Chapter 85: A Fragile Admission

Perry’s Perspective

“DO YOU REALLY THINK I CAN TRUST YOU?!” The words burst out of me, sharp and unforgiving.

Timothy hesitated, struggling to find the right way to say what was on his mind. He seemed torn, as if weighing the consequences of every word. The tension in the room was palpable.

“Just say it. What is it?” I demanded, narrowing my eyes with a dangerous edge. Timothy’s odd behavior made me suspect the worst, and my instincts screamed for the truth.

“It looks like Phoebe knows about the poison,” he finally said, raising his hands in a silent plea for patience. “And she tried to cover it up for her.” His voice was low, cautious. “I might be wrong, but when the warriors discovered the poison in Mason’s room, Phoebe tried to stop them. She even tried to grab it from one of the warriors.”

I pressed my lips together tightly, my mind racing. This revelation could mean so many things, and jumping to conclusions now wouldn’t help. But the picture it painted was far from comforting.

“Where are they now?” My voice dropped to a cold whisper, heavy with barely contained fury. Timothy must have sensed the deadly intent radiating from me because he quickly moved to act.

“I’ll call them here. They’re staying in the omega’s quarters. Phoebe didn’t want to leave Mason’s side.”

Without waiting for another word, Timothy hurried out of the room, unable to bear my wrath.

I was bracing myself for a difficult confrontation, but beneath the anger, fear gnawed at me. The thought of betrayal, of poison, terrified me more than I cared to admit.

Shortly after, Phoebe, Mason, Timothy, and several warriors entered. Phoebe avoided meeting my gaze, her eyes fixed on the floor, which made a hollow ache settle in my chest. That silence, that refusal to look at me—it was a bad sign.

“Perry,” she said softly, barely above a whisper, but still didn’t meet my eyes. She stepped forward cautiously, as if bracing herself for rejection. When I didn’t push her away, her steps grew steadier, though her body trembled noticeably.

The warriors forced Mason to kneel before me, securing silver bracelets around her wrists. The omega’s head hung low, resignation etched deeply into her posture, as if she had already surrendered to whatever fate awaited her.

And she was right—there was no turning back now. I couldn’t allow someone responsible for Helen’s death to walk free in my presence.

Helen had been one of the few people I truly cherished, and she had died because she uncovered something dangerous. These people were cowards, hiding behind lies and poison.

I would show no mercy—not even for my mate’s sake.

“Do you know about the poison?” I asked bluntly, cutting through any pretense. My gaze locked onto Phoebe’s, sharp but laced with a desperate plea. I wanted her to lie, to deny everything. Maybe it was all a terrible coincidence.

But the silence that followed was deafening. Her lips pressed tightly together, still refusing to meet my eyes. She didn’t even have the courage to step closer, to stand within my reach.

“Do you know about this?” I demanded again, my voice dropping into a harsh, venomous hiss.

If this were anyone else—anyone but my mate—I wouldn’t hesitate to tear them apart with my bare hands. But Phoebe was the woman I thought I’d share my life with. The thought of her betrayal cut deeper than any wound.
