Marked By The Mad King Alpha (Phoebe and Perry) novel Chapter 89

Chapter 89: She Carries the King’s Heir

Despite every instinct screaming at him to stay away, Timothy found himself making his way toward the dungeon. He knew he had to speak with Phoebe—alone and away from prying ears—to uncover the truth behind what had really transpired. Something about the whole situation didn’t sit right with him. Too many details were out of place, and deep down, he doubted Phoebe truly wished Perry dead.

If she had genuinely wanted to see Perry gone, Timothy thought bitterly, she would have finished the job by now. There had been so many chances, so many moments where she could have struck the final blow. Yet, she hadn’t. Instead, she had admitted to slipping Perry a slow-acting poison, a mysterious detail that only fueled Timothy’s burning curiosity. What was the real story? Why confess to something so dangerous yet not follow through? He hoped that a private conversation might unravel her motives.

When he finally reached the dungeon, the first thing that struck him was the frantic voice of Cameron, echoing through the cold stone corridors as he called Phoebe’s name repeatedly, panic thick in his tone.

“What’s happening?” Timothy demanded, rushing forward to the cell where Cameron was desperately trying to bend the iron bars, his face pale with worry.

“Check on her! Something’s terribly wrong!” Cameron jabbed a trembling finger toward Phoebe’s still, lifeless form lying on the cold floor.

A surge of alarm shot through Timothy’s chest. Without hesitation, he sprinted outside to find a warrior who could unlock the cell. The heavy door creaked open, and Timothy was immediately at Phoebe’s side.

“Phoebe, hey, wake up,” he murmured, gently shaking her. Her skin was icy beneath his fingers, a stark contrast to the beads of sweat dotting her forehead. She was unconscious, utterly unresponsive.

His mind raced as he scanned her for injuries. There was no scent of blood, no visible wounds. Perry hadn’t touched her, at least not physically, and the only blood Timothy could detect was the dried splatter from Mason’s fatal attack on the omega—blood that had unfortunately soaked Phoebe’s clothing but left no fresh marks.

Still, Phoebe’s complexion was ghostly pale, her lips tinged a chilling blue.

“Get a healer down here immediately!” Timothy ordered one of the nearby warriors, his voice sharp with urgency.

“Move her somewhere safe! She needs help now!” Cameron shouted from behind the bars, straining to get a better look at his daughter, but Timothy’s body blocked his view. “What happened to her? Get her out of here!”

Timothy’s heart clenched. He wanted nothing more than to lift Phoebe out of that dark, damp cell, but Perry’s orders were clear—she was to remain locked away. Even checking on her was pushing the boundaries. Moving her without the king’s consent would be a death sentence for Timothy.

Especially now, with Perry’s mood as volatile as a storm. The king had lost all sense of reason, consumed by a fury that threatened to tear everything apart. Nothing else seemed to matter to him anymore.

In Perry’s eyes, Phoebe had betrayed him deeply. He had trusted her, opened his heart, even tried to change for her sake—only to be stabbed in the back. Her confession about the poison had shattered something irreparable inside him. Timothy wasn’t sure if Perry could ever be put back together again.

“What are you waiting for? Move her! Get her out of here!” Cameron’s voice cracked with desperation.
