Marked By The Mad King Alpha (Phoebe and Perry) novel Chapter 93

Chapter 93: A Dagger to the Heart

Perry’s Perspective

I couldn’t stand the way Elder Tricia addressed me, though I had to admit, his words struck a painful chord of truth. There was no denying Phoebe’s hatred for me was justified. I couldn’t pretend I had ever treated her kindly.

I knew my temper was a destructive force, and I had come to accept that harsh reality. But Phoebe was different. She wasn’t like anyone else. She was everything I longed for—and even more.

Hurting her was never my intention. I never wanted to cause her pain. That’s why her betrayal felt like a knife twisting deep inside me, cutting me open in ways I hadn’t anticipated.

When Elder Tricia finished his stern lecture, he left me alone in the vast throne room, the heavy silence pressing down as my thoughts spiraled out of control. Time slipped away unnoticed until Timothy appeared, his face ghostly pale, searching for me.

“I’ve rounded them all up,” he said, his voice thick with grief. He extended a blood-stained piece of paper that bore an extensive list of names.

The metallic scent of blood clung to him like a second skin, making the air around us heavy and suffocating.

It didn’t take much to figure out what had happened. Timothy had clearly resorted to torture to extract this list.

I took the paper and scanned the names, my vision darkening as I recognized half of them—people from my inner circle, some I’d known for years, and others I had believed were loyal to me.

“Perry, you need to get Phoebe out of that place immediately, or you’ll lose both her and the child,” Timothy urged, desperation thick in his voice. “You can’t let her suffer like this—she’s carrying your baby.”

I said nothing. My silence only seemed to fuel Timothy’s frustration.

“Perry! Marcela warned me she can’t help any further! Phoebe’s condition is critical—she’s dying! Marcela gave me half a day to get her out, but there’s no guarantee she’ll survive!”

Still, I remained motionless, eyes locked on the list. Then, slowly, I stood, as if shaking off some invisible weight, completely ignoring Timothy’s presence.

“Where are you going?” he demanded, exasperation evident in his tone. He was grasping at straws, unsure how to reach me. He had endured the torment of interrogating Cameron and had even brought in Elder Tricia for help, yet nothing had worked. His head throbbed with the pressure of it all.

Time was slipping away, and midday had already arrived.

“Perry! Where are you going?!” Timothy called out, trailing behind me as I left the throne room.

Suddenly, the shrill wail of alarms echoed throughout the palace.

We were under attack.

Sterling had no choice but to lead the Movement in a rebellion against the king. Though he felt no love for his son, Kevin was still his only blood relative. He had no other option.

He had maintained contact with Reginald, who was already inside the palace. Together with a thousand warriors from three different packs, Sterling commanded the assault.
