Chapter 110 You Love Him, Don’t You?
Jake’s POV:
Her words cut deep. My chest ached at this.
I forced myself to ask, “Deanna, are you saying there’s no chance for us anymore?”
“Yes.”
Her answer was firm, without the slightest pause.

She didn’t look at me again. Instead, she grabbed a cookie off the plate and shoved it into her mouth like I wasn’t even standing there.
I dropped my gaze. My fingers clenched so hard around the slice of blueberry cake that my knuckles turned white.
The harder I tried to hold on, the colder she became.
It was like her heart had turned to stone, sealed off completely.
In her eyes, I no longer existed.
As the alpha of the Olsendreich Pack, I had never lowered myself like this for any woman. Begging wasn’t in my nature. Yet here I was.
I asked myself a thousand times–why does it have to be Deanna?
If the last five years were just habit, then I could build that habit with someone else. Find another woman. Move on.
But the moment I imagined anyone else in her place, the thought made me sick.
That was when I finally understood. This wasn’t habit. This was love.
Even if another alpha, stronger and more powerful than me, stood by her side, I still couldn’t let her go.
Just then, the soft melody of a waltz drifted from the center of the ballroom.
Couples in elegant gowns and suits stepped onto the dance floor, spinning gracefully under the golden lights.

1 stared at Deanna’s back as she walked away. A sudden rush of impulse burned through me, pushing away my fear and doubt.
I strode after her. And just before she reached Violet, I reached out without hesitation.
Before she could react, I caught her hand. With one smooth turn of my wrist, I spun her in rhythm with the music.
The next moment, I led her straight onto the dance floor, our steps falling into place with the waltz.
Deanna’s POV:
“What are you doing, Jake?”
I stumbled back a step, trying to break free from his grip.
Reporters were everywhere tonight, and the last thing I wanted was to end up on the front page. I lowered my voice.
“Do you know what this looks like right now? You’re being clingy.”
“I’m sorry. I just wanted to talk to you seriously,” he said.
I turned my face away, my voice sharp and cold. “This relationship is over for me. Your apology doesn’t matter anymore.”
As I said it, I glanced to the side without meaning to and froze. Luis was staring right at me. His gaze was dark and heavy.
My heart clenched, and a chill ran down my back.
Even if Luis and I had no future, I couldn’t help fearing he’d misunderstand.
“No, I love you. I don’t want us to be a past.” Jake’s voice cut into my thoughts.
