Marked By the Pureblood Alpha (Deanna and Luis) novel Chapter 146

**Chapter 146: Negotiate the Terms**

**Deanna’s POV:**

Luis lifted his gaze, his amber eyes meeting mine with an intensity that sent shivers down my spine. A faint smile flickered across his lips, but it felt more like a challenge than an invitation.

“If you’re about to say something I don’t want to hear,” he remarked, his tone casual yet edged with a warning, “you might as well keep your silence.”

Frustration bubbled within me, and I furrowed my brow. How was I supposed to decipher the complex labyrinth of his thoughts? What did he want to hear, and what would send him spiraling into irritation?

I took a deep breath, trying to steady my racing heart, and spoke deliberately. “Yes, I agreed to be with you because of our deal. But I need a time limit.”

Luis arched an eyebrow, a hint of amusement dancing in his expression. He tossed his phone onto the table with a careless flick of his wrist and leaned back into the plush couch, a smirk tugging at the corners of his mouth. “You don’t get to negotiate,” he replied, his voice low and teasing.

A surge of anger mixed with panic coursed through me. I was acutely aware of the power imbalance between us. He was a force to be reckoned with, and I knew I couldn’t confront him head-on without losing.

So, I softened my tone, attempting to appeal to the more rational side of him. “Luis, what’s the point of this? You’re intrigued by me now, but what happens when your interest fades? What if you grow bored?”

He leaned forward, his expression shifting slightly, as if my words had struck a chord. “So eager to leave me already? What’s really going on? Want to go back to your ex?” His voice dripped with sarcasm, and I felt my cheeks flush.

“I never said that!” I retorted, pouting slightly, trying to mask my rising embarrassment.

“Didn’t you want a time limit?” he pressed, his handsome face inscrutable. “Fine. Please me tonight, and we’ll discuss it.”

My lips pressed together, and I felt my fingers twist nervously in my lap. The weight of his words hung heavily in the air, and I could feel the tension thickening between us.

After a brief pause, I clenched my jaw and mustered my courage. “If I do please you, will you finally let me set the terms?”

“Try me,” he challenged, leaning forward slightly, his amber eyes glinting with an unsettling mix of desire and mischief. “Oh, and just so you know, my wolf enjoys some challenging postures.”

Heat rushed to my face, and I couldn’t help but feel a mix of indignation and intrigue. This man was insatiable!

Even though Luis and I had shared intimate moments before, he had always held the reins. I had never dared to take the lead, and the thought of doing so now filled me with both excitement and trepidation.

He lounged on the couch, his golden eyes fixed on me, radiating an unfiltered hunger that made my stomach twist. The way he stared felt as if I were exposed, utterly vulnerable.

“What’s wrong?” he prodded, his voice teasingly low. “Just a moment ago, you were so determined to negotiate terms, and now you seem to be hesitating?”

I trembled, struggling to find my voice. “I-I can do it,” I stammered, though doubts gnawed at my confidence.

If only we hadn’t had that fight earlier, if only the atmosphere weren’t so thick with tension, perhaps I wouldn’t feel so utterly humiliated.

I bit my lip, steeling myself as I approached him. With a deep breath, I crouched halfway down, my heart racing in my chest.

Closing my eyes, I leaned forward, pressing my lips to his.
