**Chapter 179: How Do You Know My Password?**
**Deanna’s POV:**
1430 Free Coins
After the whirlwind of emotions that had just unfolded, I stepped out of the bedroom, my mind still racing. The cool air of the kitchen wrapped around me as I opened the fridge, reaching for a bottle of ice water. I took a long, refreshing sip, the chill coursing through me like a soothing balm, finally calming the frantic beating of my heart.
With a sigh, I pulled out my phone and dialed Maggie’s number. The urgency of our new venture weighed heavily on my mind; the Skyline Construction project was about to kick off, and I needed her to dive into the contracts and details without delay.
When Maggie answered, her voice was laced with uncertainty. “Deanna, what about Zelena?”
I could understand her concern. The shadow of Zelena loomed large, but I had faith in Luis. He had promised to assist me with the investigation, and I believed him. There was a certain confidence that surged within me, bolstered by the knowledge that I wasn’t facing this challenge alone.
“I’ve already got someone looking into Felix,” I reassured her, trying to infuse my voice with certainty. “We’ll have answers soon enough. Let’s stick to our plan.”
As I ended the call, I found myself staring at the screen, lost in a whirlwind of thoughts. It dawned on me how much I had come to rely on Luis. Trusting him so completely was new territory for me. I had never felt this way about Jake, and the realization sent a ripple of unease through me.
The steak sizzling in the pan demanded my attention, but my mind wandered elsewhere, caught in a web of contemplation.
Suddenly, I felt a warm presence behind me. The familiar scent of cedar enveloped me, thickening the air around us. Luis had just stepped out of the shower, droplets of water still glistening on his hair, and before I could react, his arms encircled my waist. He rested his chin on my shoulder, his voice a low murmur. “What are you doing?”
I froze, momentarily losing my grip on the spatula, the oil in the pan threatening to splatter. Just in the nick of time, Luis caught my hand and deftly flipped the steak over.
“Be careful. You can’t space out while cooking,” he chided, a teasing glint in his eyes.
I couldn’t help but think, It’s your fault for showing up and distracting me!
“You can head out if you want. I can manage this,” I replied, trying to sound more confident than I felt.
He chuckled softly, the sound reverberating through me. “Didn’t expect you to be the cooking type.”
