Marked By the Pureblood Alpha (Deanna and Luis) novel Chapter 190

**The Heart I Buried for You by Serene Lockwood**

Zelena’s POV:

Just as I was adding the final strokes to my latest sketch, a sharp click echoed through the hallway, the unmistakable sound of heels tapping against the polished floor.

Intrigued, I glanced up, only to find Violet leaning against the doorframe, her silhouette illuminated by the soft morning light filtering through the window.

“Violet, what brings you here so early?” I asked, my voice a mixture of surprise and a hint of worry.

Recently, Violet had been visiting more often, a lively distraction that broke the monotony of my solitude. Normally, she would indulge in the luxury of sleep, only emerging from her cocoon in the afternoons to join Deanna for dinner.

But today, her arms were crossed tightly over her chest, and her expression was unusually serious, a stark departure from her usual effervescent self. “I came to see you specifically today. We need to talk,” she declared, her tone heavy with urgency.

A shiver of apprehension coursed through me as I stood up, an unsettling knot forming in the pit of my stomach.

“Sit down. What’s so pressing that you’ve come here first thing in the morning? Why the serious face?” I inquired, attempting to mask the rising tide of anxiety within me.

Without uttering a word, she dropped her designer Chanel purse onto my cluttered desk. The sound reverberated through the stillness of the room, amplifying the tension that hung in the air. She wasted no time in diving straight into the heart of the matter. “Did you talk to Luis yesterday?”

Her question struck me like a bolt of lightning, electrifying the atmosphere between us.

Feigning ignorance, I tried to maintain my composure, though my heart raced in protest. “Violet, what are you talking about? I just saw Luis smoking in the hallway when I returned from the bathroom. We barely exchanged a few words…”

“Don’t pretend,” she interjected, her voice firm and unwavering. “Deanna has always trusted you. She never believed you would change, but I saw everything you did yesterday.”

Violet’s eyes bore into mine, their intensity making me squirm under the weight of her scrutiny. “You’re into Luis.”

The accusation hit me like a physical blow, and I immediately dropped my gaze, unable to withstand the force of her stare. Guilt washed over me, making it difficult to breathe.

Her piercing gaze felt like daggers, each one stabbing deeper into my conscience.
