Chapter 21 Puddy, Your Mom’s Got No Heart
Luis‘ POV:
I glanced up, only to realize the woman in front of me wasn’t Deanna.
My brows drew together. “Who are you?”
“1–I’m Jillian Wiley. Heiress of Mistbane Pack.”
“The Mistbane Pack’s heiress?” I repeated flatly, eyeing her with zero interest.
The scent gave her away in an instant–human.
She nodded, straightening up a little. “That’s right. I’m Mistbane Pack’s only heiress.”
I let out a dry scoff. “You really think I can’t tell what you are? You reek of human.”

Jillian looked flustered. “It’s not like that. I might not be blood–related to the pack, but I’ve lived there for twenty years. They raised me. The pack shaped who I am. That’s why I’m the rightful heiress.”
I didn’t buy a word of it.
If I’d known this wannabe had wormed her way up here to meet me, I would’ve shut the door
in her face.
“So? What do you want? Say your piece and leave–I don’t have all day.”
My patience was already running thin.
Jillian’s POV:
The way he kept harping on bloodlines made my stomach churn, but I reminded myself why I
was here.
“Alpha, I’ll get straight to it. The Mistbane Pack’s working on a Moonline Expansion Project. We’re facing a funding gap, and I was hoping the Mooncrown Pack might consider investing.”
Luis leaned back, completely unfazed. “And why would I?”
Thank goodness I came prepared.

I never officially worked for the company, but I had my own people inside.
I pulled a folder from my bag and handed it to him–our project proposal.
Deanna put the whole thing together. I had someone snag it from her office.

It was detailed, impressive–even I had to admit that. If it weren’t, I wouldn’t have dared bring
it here.
“This outlines the Moonline Expansion Project. It’s been in the pipeline for two years. We’re estimating returns around 35%. I know the Mooncrown Pack invests in solid ventures. I promise you won’t regret it.”
Luis took the file and flipped through a few pages without much interest.
“Not bad,” he said, sounding bored. “But Ms. Jillian, I don’t invest just because the numbers look good. Most of the time… it depends on my mood.”
I froze, caught off guard.
How was I supposed to argue with that?
He added coolly, “I’ve got a meeting to get to. Someone show her out.”
Panic surged up my throat, and I blurted, “Mr. Eaton, we don’t have to talk shop right now. I’ve heard so much about you–I’d love to grab dinner sometime.”
“There’s a long list of people dying to eat with me. Where do you think you land on it?”
His words hit like a slap.
I stood there stunned, unable to say anything.
Just then, Avery appeared, grabbed my arm, and leaned in. “You should go.”
I glanced back at Luis–tall, distant, impossible to read–then pouted and let Avery lead me out, sulking the whole way.
Avery’s POV:
Right after I walked Jillian out, I saw the Luis stepping out of his office.
I quickly stepped aside and kept my head down. “Alpha.”

He paused, gaze unreadable. “That was the Ms. Wiley you told me about?”
Wait–is there another Ms. Wiley I’m not aware of?
“Y–Yes. That was her. The Mistbane Pack’s heiress.”

He gave a cold look. “I don’t keep fools around. Ada, retrain her before she sets foot in here again.”
Without another word, he headed toward his private elevator.
Ada stood from her desk. “Understood.”
“Ada…” I murmured, my eyes already stinging.
She sighed. “Looks like the Alpha’s got no love for the Mistbane Pack—or their heiress. You’d better be careful.”
I nodded weakly, completely defeated.
Right in front of me, Ada picked up the phone and called the front desk. “From now on, if a Ms. Wiley from the Mistbane Pack shows up asking for the Alpha, turn her away. No exceptions.”
Luis‘ POV:
Truthfully, the project Jillian brought wasn’t bad, but it annoyed me.
The Mistbane Pack was desperate for funding, and even Jillian knew to come knocking.
So, where was Deanna?
Off chasing Jake again?
