**Chapter 245: Sparks in the Silence**
**Deanna’s POV:**
Today marked a significant moment—the return of Kathryn from her trip to Euron.
Once again, I found myself amidst the bustling crowd at the airport, standing anxiously by the arrival gate, hoping to catch a glimpse of her.
As I stood there, a wave of memories washed over me, reminding me of the last time I had waited in this very spot—anxiously anticipating Violet’s arrival so we could head to the hospital for what felt like the most difficult decision of my life.
Who could have imagined that just a few days later, I would experience a shift in my heart, ultimately choosing to embrace this little life instead?
In the distance, I spotted Kathryn, maneuvering her suitcase through the throng of travelers.
I waved, my heart racing with excitement.
When she finally reached me, I eagerly took hold of the luggage cart, feeling a sense of relief wash over me as we began our journey toward the exit together.
Having spent nearly a month away, she looked revitalized, her color restored, and that serene, graceful presence that was uniquely hers—belonging to the Luna of the Mistbane Pack—radiated from her once more.
“Deanna, you always seem to be so occupied. You could have simply sent a driver; you didn’t need to come all the way here,” she remarked, a hint of concern lacing her voice.
“It’s perfectly fine. I’m not busy today,” I reassured her, trying to dismiss her worries.
Her gaze turned scrutinizing as she studied me closely. “You’ve lost weight,” she observed, her brow furrowing slightly.
I instinctively touched my cheek, surprised by her comment. “Really? Perhaps it just feels that way since you haven’t seen me in a while,” I replied, attempting to brush it off.
Her expression deepened with concern as she looked me over again. “It’s not just that you’re thinner—you look pale too. This simply won’t do. I’ll ensure you have a proper meal tonight,” she insisted, a motherly determination in her tone.
Upon our arrival at the Mistbane main house, Kathryn instructed the servants to unpack her suitcase. One by one, she revealed a delightful assortment of gifts laid out on the table—necklaces, bracelets, and charming little trinkets, more than a dozen in total.
It was a tradition of hers to bring back souvenirs from her travels, though most of the time, those treasures were meant for Desmond and Jillian.
However, seeing this array of thoughtful items laid out specifically for me, I immediately understood her intention—this was her heartfelt way of atoning for the past.
“Mom, why don’t you come sit for a moment?” I suggested gently, sensing the weight of a conversation lingering between us. “There’s something important I need to share.”
Kathryn’s face brightened as she picked up a delicate four-leaf-clover brooch, holding it against my sweater. “What’s troubling you? Look at this one! Isn’t it stunning? They say these brooches bring good luck in Euron, so I couldn’t resist buying one,” she said, her eyes sparkling with excitement.
I glanced down at the intricate green clover, which beautifully contrasted with my blue sweater.
“Looks good,” Kathryn nodded approvingly.
