Chapter 25 Break Up With Jake
Chapter 25 Break Up With Jake
Luis‘ POV:
It was three years ago at a business gala when I first saw her again.
One glance–and I knew.
She was that girl. The one I’d been searching for all these
years.
And as if to confirm it, Griffin stirred within me, his voice clear in my mind.
She’s the one. Our mate.

I couldn’t stop the rush of emotion that surged through me–relief, wonder, joy, all tangled together.
When she vanished all those years ago without a word, I had torn the world apart trying to find her. I came up empty every time.
And now, there she was.
The little girl I remembered had become a woman.
She wore a snow–white dress that flowed like silk, and her soft, wavy hair danced gently in the breeze.
She looked like a moon goddess, carved from light and memory.
She walked toward me slowly, step by step.
For a heartbeat, I thought she remembered me.
I lifted my hand, ready to speak, to call her name, but then… she walked right past me.
She didn’t so much as glance in my direction.
Her eyes were locked on the man behind me.
Jake Olson.
I knew who he was. He was the alpha of the Olsendreich Pack. Young, hungry, and always looking to overthrow the former pureborn order.

Deanna slipped her hand through his arm with practiced case, smiling sweetly, eyes glowing just for him.
I stood there frozen, hand still halfway raised. And then I lowered it slowly, the gesture dying
in the air.
Too late.
That was what fate had to say to me. I was too late.
Later, I dug through every source I had until I found out the truth.
She wasn’t called Diana Holt anymore.
She was now Deanna Wiley, the true daughter of the Mistbane Pack’s alpha, the one who’d been switched at birth.
No wonder I couldn’t find her.
And apparently, she’d been in love with Jake the entire time.
Everyone knew it, so much so that everyone in high society knew it.
But why him? What did he have that I didn’t?
He wasn’t as good–looking.
Wasn’t more capable.
And he d*mn sure didn’t love her like I did.
Why was she so fixated on a man who didn’t see her worth?
She might’ve grown into a woman, but in some ways, she was still that same stubborn girl, blind to everything that mattered.
Had her wolf fallen asleep or something? Didn’t it recognize its true mate standing right in front of her?
Deanna’s POV:
Luis wouldn’t stop staring at me. My heart thudded wildly in my chest, echoing louder with every second that passed.

Then–before I could overthink it–I made my move. I closed my eyes, rose up on my toes, and pressed a soft kiss to his lips.
It was meant to be brief. A light touch, nothing more.
But Luis didn’t let go.
His arms locked around me, pulling me in closer. The kiss deepened, and a jolt of heat shot through my veins. My breath hitched, and my knees nearly gave out.
Good thing he was holding me.
When he finally let go, I was panting, clinging to him like he was the only solid thing left in the world.
I leaned against his chest and asked, half–teasing, half–serious, “Luis… was that sincere enough for you?”
A lazy smirk curved across his lips. “Deanna, when did you get so bold? Trying to seduce me now?”
I smiled faintly, testing the waters. “Will you invest in the Mistbane Pack? The full four billion?”
Luis paused for a beat, then said, “I’ll invest… if you agree to one condition.”
“What is it?”
“Break up with Jake. Stay far away
That’s it? Easy.
from him.”
I had already cut things off with Jake, whether people believed it or not.
Of course, Luis, being the proud alpha he is, didn’t want his woman anywhere near his rival.
“I’ll do it,” I said without hesitation. “I’ll break up with him.”
He raised an eyebrow, clearly not expecting me to agree so quickly.
Then, a giant puffball came flying across the lawn, freshly bathed, snow–white fur gleaming
under the sun.
Woof! Woof! Woof!
Puddy.

Puddy barreled toward us like a cannonball. I barely had time to brace myself before he launched straight at me again.
But this time, I didn’t fall.
