Marked By the Pureblood Alpha (Deanna and Luis) novel Chapter 270

**Chapter 270: I’ve Got My Eye On Someone**

**Deanna’s POV:**

The moment that name echoed in the air, a jolt of panic coursed through me, freezing me in place.

“Deanna.”

I instinctively turned, my heart racing as I caught a glimpse of someone emerging from the villa—was it Kathryn? The sight sent me into a whirlwind of anxiety. I couldn’t let her see me here, not like this. In a flurry of urgency, I yanked off my blazer and thrust it into Luis’s hands.

“I need to go back now,” I insisted, my voice barely above a whisper.

“You’re leaving already?” he asked, a hint of disappointment lacing his tone.

“My mom is calling me.” My gaze flicked nervously to the villa, dread pooling in my stomach at the thought of Kathryn spotting me lingering here.

Luis looked down at me, his expression a mixture of hurt and confusion. “Before you go back, let me out of the doghouse first. Unblock me.”

I was taken aback, rendered speechless by his plea.

“You’re more resourceful than I thought. Even without my number, you still managed to get me out tonight,” he continued, stepping closer, his fingers brushing against my wrist in a way that sent shivers up my spine.

“I can’t always ask Aaron to pass on messages every time I need to find you. That’s just not right,” he said, his voice low and earnest.

Just as he finished speaking, I noticed Kathryn stepping out of the villa, her eyes scanning the garden. My heart raced, and I instinctively pulled my hand away from Luis’s grasp.

“Luis, whatever your reasons for wanting to marry me, they don’t matter right now. What matters is that I can’t be part of your Mooncrown Pack anymore,” I declared, my voice trembling as I turned away, hastening back toward the villa, my heart pounding as if I were fleeing from something terrifying.

Inside, I nearly stumbled into the living room, my breath coming in quick bursts as I tried to compose myself.

Kathryn’s gaze was sharp as she looked past me toward the door. “Why are you out so late?” she asked, her voice filled with concern.

I fidgeted with my shawl, avoiding her gaze. “The moon looks nice tonight, so I went for a walk,” I replied, my voice lacking conviction.

She didn’t press further, but her next words sent a chill through me. “I just talked to your aunt on the phone. In two or three months, we’ll be moving over there for good, so I asked her to help us find a place first.”

I kept my eyes downcast, the weight of her words settling heavily on my shoulders.

“Deanna, what’s going on with you?” Kathryn asked, her tone softening slightly.

I wrapped my shawl tighter around myself, summoning the courage to ask a question that had been gnawing at me. “Mom, if a man wants to marry a woman while she’s pregnant, is it because he loves her or just because of the baby?”

Kathryn’s expression darkened. “From what I know about men, he’s doing it for the baby.”

“Mom,” I said, my voice barely above a whisper, “you’ve been through this. Men can be sweet talkers at first, but after marriage, they change. Just look at Philip—he’s a classic case.”

I could only muster a faint acknowledgment, “Mhm,” as a heaviness settled in my chest, the reality of her words weighing me down.

“Since you’ve made up your mind, hurry up and finish things with Mistbane Group, so we can leave sooner,” she urged, her voice firm.

“Okay, Mom,” I replied, my heart sinking further.
