Marked By the Pureblood Alpha (Deanna and Luis) novel Chapter 278

**Chapter 278: He Finds Out She’s Pregnant**

The tension in the room was palpable as Malcolm’s fist remained suspended in the air, a symbol of the storm brewing within him. The oppressive energy he exuded felt as if it could solidify the very air around them, making it difficult to breathe.

Finally, after what seemed like an eternity, he lowered his fist with deliberate slowness, his expression hardening. “I’m taking her with me,” he declared, his voice low but commanding.

Mason’s response was immediate, fueled by indignation. “No way! I worked hard to get her here!” His voice was a mixture of anger and disbelief as he stepped forward, confronting Malcolm. The two Alphas stood toe-to-toe beside the bed, their pheromones clashing violently, filling the room with an undeniable tension.

Mason, however, felt no fear in the face of Malcolm. The two packs operated in entirely different realms, and he felt secure in the strength of his own Grisclaw Pack, one of the most formidable in all of Nordvale. He doubted that Malcolm would jeopardize his own pack’s reputation by causing a scene.

At that moment, Deanna stirred on the bed, her eyelids fluttering as she gradually emerged from her drowsy state. She raised her hand instinctively, shielding her eyes from the harsh overhead light that pierced through the room.

Malcolm’s gaze softened as he noticed her awakening. He stepped closer, his voice gentle, “Deanna, are you alright?”

Mason’s anger flared anew as he realized that Deanna’s awakening had completely derailed his plans for the evening. What a waste of an opportunity! In a fit of frustration, he kicked a chair across the room with a loud bang, the sound echoing ominously.

“Malcolm, you ruined my fun. You’d better watch your back,” he spat, his eyes still glinting with a predatory hunger as he hastily dressed. He glanced back at Deanna one last time, a wicked smile playing on his lips. “We’ll meet again, sweetheart.”

Deanna’s heart raced as she met Mason’s vicious glare. In that moment, the gravity of her situation hit her like a tidal wave.

Her pulse quickened in alarm as she instinctively glanced down to check her clothes, anxiety flooding her senses.

“Deanna, you’re safe now,” Malcolm reassured her, his tone soothing. “Don’t worry, nothing happened.”

Yet, despite his comforting words, Deanna felt a tremor of unease. “You saved me just now, didn’t you? Thank you, Mr. Faulkner,” she managed to say, her voice shaky.

Malcolm attempted to lighten the mood with a small smile, his eyes twinkling with a hint of mischief. “Can that thank you earn me an extra point with you?”

Deanna felt her cheeks flush under his intense gaze, and she glanced away, uncertain of how to respond. Just then, a sharp cramp shot through her belly, causing her to wince.

Panic surged within her as she recalled the incense she had inhaled that night, a lingering fear creeping in—what if it affected the tiny life growing inside her? Her complexion paled instantly as dread washed over her.

“Can you take me to the hospital? Right now?” she implored, her voice trembling with urgency.
