Marked By the Pureblood Alpha (Deanna and Luis) novel Chapter 291

**Chapter 291: Jealous**

In a tense moment, before Deanna could gather her thoughts to respond, Luis interjected with a chilling finality. “No.”

Jake’s frustration bubbled to the surface as he clenched his jaw. “Luis, I wasn’t addressing you!” he snapped, his irritation palpable in the air. He turned his focus back to Deanna, his gaze intense and searching. “Is that okay?”

Deanna sensed the shift in the atmosphere beside her; Luis was rigid, a palpable frost settling around him. She met Jake’s gaze, her voice steady yet resolute. “We have nothing left to talk about.”

A sharp intake of breath from Jake caught in his throat, his complexion draining of color as his fists tightened into hard balls at his sides. Deep down, he was painfully aware of the truth—Deanna no longer harbored love for him.

The realization clawed at him, a bitter truth he struggled to accept. Seeing Luis with her, the way he held her, ignited a familiar ache within him.

It was still raw, the memory of her suffering at the hands of others; it gnawed at him, tearing him apart inside. Even in the face of humiliation, he found himself pursuing her, unable to let go.

Luis shot Jake a disdainful glare, pulling Deanna closer, his voice dripping with contempt. “You heard her. Get lost.”

With that, he began to lead Deanna away, his grip firm and possessive.

Jake’s vision blurred with anger, his eyes reddening. He pressed his tongue against his back teeth, forcing out the words, “Luis, you’d better treat her right. If you don’t, I won’t let this slide.”

Luis merely lifted his eyelids, his gaze sharp and mocking, a smirk playing at the corners of his lips. “You’re the last person who gets to say that.”

Those words struck Jake like a dagger, each syllable a reminder of his past mistakes. If only he had listened to Peggie back then! If only he had prioritized Deanna’s feelings! If only he had rushed to her side during that harrowing kidnapping!

Would things have unfolded differently if he had acted sooner?

But those “ifs” were mere shadows now, haunting him with their impossibility.

The pain in Jake’s heart was so intense, it felt as if it were being ripped apart, piece by piece.

“Luis, those five years I spent with Deanna—you’re telling me you don’t care at all?” he shouted impulsively, the desperation in his voice echoing in the tense silence.

Deanna’s brow furrowed in irritation. “Enough, Jake. Don’t push me to lose the last shred of goodwill I have left for you just because you once saved me.”
