Marked By the Pureblood Alpha (Deanna and Luis) novel Chapter 300

**Chapter 300: Fever**

**Deanna’s POV:**

Once we were back inside the house, the air felt heavy with concern. I gently nudged Luis onto the bed, urging him to lie down.

The dim light had masked the severity of his condition earlier, but now, as he settled onto the sheets, it became painfully clear. His face was not just flushed; his entire body radiated heat, like a furnace burning out of control.

Thank goodness he was an Alpha. If he had been an Omega, there was no way he could have pushed himself to venture out in this state.

Just as I was about to rise and fetch some supplies, Luis’s hand shot out, gripping mine with surprising strength.

His brow furrowed in discomfort, and his voice came out raspy, “Where do you think you’re going?”

I couldn’t help but scold him, my voice tinged with worry. “Do you even realize how high your fever is? Forget 102; I’m pretty sure you’re nearing 200 degrees!”

A weak chuckle escaped his lips, a sound that seemed out of place given his condition.

“You’re still laughing?” I asked, incredulity lacing my tone.

“Because you’re worried about me,” he replied, a hint of smugness in his voice. He reached out, gently taking my hand and pressing it against his burning cheek. The heat radiated through my palm, spreading warmth throughout my entire being.

“I’m not worried about you,” I insisted, though my heart betrayed me.

I pulled my hand away, standing up to head into the bathroom.

Grabbing a dry towel from the rack, I turned on the tap, letting the cold water run before wringing it out.

When I returned to the bedroom, I found Luis with his eyes shut tight, his brows knitted in discomfort. He looked nothing like his usual cocky self; instead, he appeared vulnerable, almost fragile.

That vulnerability tugged at my heartstrings, softening my resolve.

I settled beside him, placing the cool towel on his forehead with gentle care.

Just then, the doorbell echoed through the quiet room. It must be the doctor Luis had called.

I hurried to the door, swinging it open to reveal Erik, a medical kit in his hands.

He froze for a moment, surprise flickering across his features, before quickly regaining his composure. “Hey, Deanna. Fancy seeing you again.”

I nodded, inviting him inside and leading him to the bedroom where Luis lay.

**Erik’s POV:**

As I followed Deanna into the room, I couldn’t help but ask, “So, what’s going on here?”
