**Chapter 326: Why Was I This Shy?**
**Deanna’s POV:**
I lingered in the dimly lit basement with Luis, the weight of the silence only broken by the occasional growl of my stomach. Hours seemed to blend together, and it wasn’t until my belly let out a loud protest that I finally decided to call for the werewolf guards. “Can you please bring him back to the room?” I instructed, my voice steady despite the fluttering in my chest.
With a quiet efficiency, the Mooncrown pack medics followed us in, their presence a mix of urgency and professionalism. They carefully set up an IV drip, administering antibiotics that would help Luis heal. I watched, my heart heavy with worry, as they worked diligently, their movements precise.
Soon after, two maids entered, pushing a small cart laden with food. The aroma wafting through the air was tantalizing, but as they prepared to set the dishes on the table, I instinctively waved my hand. “No need. Just leave it by the bed,” I said, my voice firm yet gentle.
Once the maids and doctors had exited, I took a plate for myself, selecting a few light dishes before settling down beside Luis. The bed creaked slightly under my weight as I positioned myself at his side, the quiet tension in the air palpable.
Luis raised an eyebrow, a hint of mischief dancing in his gaze. “Are you trying to feed me?” he asked, his voice teasing.
Heat rushed to my cheeks, and I stammered, “I’m just worried your hand’s out of commission, that’s all.” My heart raced, a frantic rhythm that echoed in my ears.
He leaned back against the bed, his gaze unwavering, a smirk playing on his lips. I lifted the spoon to his mouth, my hand trembling slightly as I offered him a bite.
To my surprise, he opened his mouth willingly, his sharp Adam’s apple bobbing as he swallowed. Yet, that intense, focused stare remained locked on me, making my pulse quicken even more.
I couldn’t take it anymore. “Can you please just eat properly?” I snapped, my irritation masking the flutter of nerves inside me.
Luis chuckled softly, the sound rumbling deep within his chest. “I am cooperating, aren’t I?” he replied, a playful glint in his eyes.
“Then why do you keep staring at me?” I shot back, feeling flustered. Feeding him should have been a simple task, yet my heart raced as if I were in the midst of a high-speed chase.
His voice lowered, smooth as silk. “Because I have a gorgeous wife.”
His words wrapped around me like a warm blanket, stirring something deep within. I couldn’t deny the way my heart melted at his compliment.
I pressed my lips together, fighting the smile that threatened to break free. “Close your eyes, or I’m not feeding you,” I ordered, trying to regain some semblance of control.
