35 I Like Her, Even When She Lies
Chapter 35 I Like Her, Even When She Lies.
Luis’s POV:
Watching Deanna turn her face away, her ears turning red, I couldn’t help but smirk.
It wasn’t the first time I’d seen her like this, but she still got flustered every single time.
I smiled faintly and walked straight to the fridge.
The moment I opened it, my brows pulled together.

Neat rows of frozen sandwiches and microwave dinners filled the shelves. There were no fresh vegetables or cuts of meat available.
“You live on this stuff?” I asked.
She was the Mistbane Pack’s heiress. And this was what she called food?
At Mooncrown Pack, even the lowest–ranked Omegas had meals prepared with care.
Deanna leaned over my shoulder, peeking into the fridge. Her tone carried a hint of defiance.
“My place isn’t like yours, Mr. Eaton. You’ve got a maid and a nutritionist waiting on you.”
I picked up a cheap–looking sandwich, glanced at the label, and grumbled.
“No wonder you barely weigh anything. You’re living off this junk.”
She pursed her lips and rebuked in a low voice, “Did I ask you to touch me?”
I shot her an annoyed look, grumbling under my breath, but still stepped into the kitchen. In the end, I decided to make two plates of pasta.
Deanna’s POV:
I was surprised when he stepped into the kitchen.
A pureblood, respectful Alpha like him is cooking?
I moved to the doorway and leaned against the frame, watching Luis at work.
His tall figure stood out in the sunlight. His natural air of authority clashed with my cramped, outdated kitchen.
Yet, for some reason, seeing him focused like that made me feel oddly calm. Safe, even.
When the food was ready, I couldn’t resist. I ate two full servings.
I had to admit–Luis could cook. Way better than my frozen dinners.
After breakfast, I checked the time. I had to get to the mall for a morning inspection, or I’d be late.
Luis stepped outside first to wait for me. I was about to follow when I remembered I’d left my phone in the bedroom. With a sigh, I went back to grab it.

As I headed toward the door again, the apartment across the hall opened. Jessica walked out in her high heels, her steps sharp and confident.
She was Jillian’s junior. We weren’t close, but we knew each other.
Jessica marched straight up to Luis.
“Sir, are you Deanna’s mate? Let me tell you–last night there was some guy all over her. Don’t get fooled. She may look sweet, but she’s not as innocent as she seems.”
I froze in place, rage flaring in my chest.
I was ready to speak up when Luis’s low, lazy voice rolled out.
‘Is that so?”
Jessica’s eyes lit up. She nodded quickly.
‘Yes, yes! That guy last night–just like you–he was totally wrapped around her finger. I heard everything from the hallway. The bulling, the whispering, the laughter. They were far too close.”
Luis let out a sharp, mocking laugh. “Two men in one night? Still better than you spending every night alone.”
Jessica blushed deeply in response to his rebuke.
‘How can you say that? I was trying to warn you. She’s tricking you, and you don’t even see it. Your mate could be cheating, and you’d never know.”
Luis barely lifted his eyes. His voice was calm, almost lazy. “I like her. Even if she lies to me, I still like her.”
ike!
That word made my heart skip in my chest.
Did he just say… he likes me?
Jessica snapped, her tone sharp and cruel.
‘You really are blind. You are falling for a she–wolf with a messy life. She’s a slut. Aren’t you afraid of catching something?”
Luis’s expression darkened instantly. He took a step closer, his voice low and dangerous.
