Chapter 45 What If He Doesn’t Want Me?
Deanna’s POV:
The bathroom door slammed open.
Jake stumbled out, looking nothing like the proud, powerful Alpha from a moment ago.

Lily and the assistants outside heard the commotion. They peeked in and froze when they saw me, soaking wet, my ceremonial gown wrinkled and clinging to me.
My expression wasn’t hardened because Jake had stormed out.
It was because my hand still ached where he had gripped it too hard.
Jake is a total brute!
I never knew he had this side to him.
In the past, his anger was always cold, heavy with that Alpha pressure, but never out of control like today.
The last time I witnessed him lose control was three years ago.
Back then, I had just started at Mistbane Group. No one knew I was the Alpha’s daughter. The employees at Mistbane Group all believed I was just an ordinary worker.
One night, I went with my manager to meet clients. After a few drinks, one of them tried to get handsy.
My manager, desperate for a deal, shoved me toward him, then slipped away. He left me alone with those clients in that room.
By the end of the night, one of them tried to touch my leg.
Furious, I dumped my drink on him.
The bar owner was Jake’s friend. He heard the commotion and came rushing over.
Jake showed up not long after. His rage was terrifying. He smashed a bottle over the client’s head and swore he’d cut his hand off if he tried it again.
Back then, I was moved. I thought he was protecting me out of care. Later, I learned it wasn’t about me at all. It was his alpha instinct–his need to claim and control.
I knew it too well. The moment he saw those marks on my neck, the moment he realized I wasn’t his “first,” it would drive him
mad.
His pride as a werewolf was crushed underfoot.
That was precisely my revenge.
But I never thought he’d throw water on me.
That awful jerk!

I twisted my sore wrist and bent down, looking for my phone.
It had been tossed to the floor, now soaked by the bathroom water.
Lily picked it up for me and handed it over.
“Ms. Wiley, maybe you should change your clothes. We’ll clean up here.”
“Alright.”
I glanced down at the drenched gown clinging to me.
It was couture, ruined beyond repair.
“The cost for the gown,” I said coldly, “Jake can pay for it. He’s the one who ruined it, not me.”
I changed out of the gown in the fitting room, and walked out of the studio.

Flagging down a cab, I thought about going straight home. But the idea of sitting alone in that empty house made me hesitate.
My personal phone was broken, so I couldn’t reach anyone. I told the driver to head toward the nearest mall. I figured my priority was getting the phone fixed.
That’s when the other phone in my bag–the work one–rang.
I pulled it out and checked the screen.
It was Philip.
He probably couldn’t get through to my personal phone, so he called this one.
