r 84 How Do You Know I Don’t Love Her?
Jake’s POV:
The Finance Summit was held in the heart of Lycanland, bringing together leaders from different packs.
A circle of alphas surrounded me, exchanging polite small talk.
I nodded here and there, but my attention stayed fixed on the entrance.
I knew Luis would show up today. That was the only reason I came prepared.
Right then, the ballroom doors opened again.
Luis walked in with a crowd of people surrounding him. He wore a dark gray suit, his tie perfectly straight, his steps careless but somehow full of pride.
Around him were the chairman of the Finance Summit and a group of experts. He walked in casually as if he owned the place.
My fists clenched at my sides until my knuckles turned white.
His words on the phone last time-“I’m the better Alpha“-still stung like a thorn in my chest. I had never suffered that kind of humiliation before.
Deanna knew Luis was my biggest rival.
And yet, to spite me, she went to him.
And Luis, knowing that, still chose to be with her. That was nothing but open provocation.
It was bad enough when he stole business deals from my pack.
But now he wanted to steal my woman too.
I hadn’t fought in a long time, but my wolf was restless, eagerly pacing inside my head.
If we weren’t at a finance summit, I’d have already shifted and fought Luis to the death.
The alphas who had just been gathered around me now drifted toward Luis.
I gave a cold laugh. These people always sat on the fence, chasing profit, ready to turn their backs the moment the wind changed.
My company used to be one of the strongest in the finance world.
But lately, too many of our projects had been stolen by Mooncrown Corporation. We’d been hit hard.
And I would make Luis pay for that one day.
The summit was about to start. As I walked to my seat, I saw Luis sit down right next to me.
The organizers probably did it on purpose, just to hype things up.
A financial reporter rushed over, camera in hand, trying to snap a photo of us side by side.

But the second he raised the lens, both Luis and I turned our heads and glared at him.
The reporter froze, lowered the camera, and scurried off.
I leaned closer to Luis, my voice low. “So you went after my woman just to humiliate me? That’s pretty low, even for you.”
Luis gave a short laugh. “Jake, don’t flatter yourself. You’re not worth that much effort.”
“Deanna isn’t someone you can play with.” My hand curled into a fist so tight the veins stood out.
“If you want something, name your price,” I said through clenched teeth. “Otherwise, when word gets out, people will say Mr. Eaton is taking in a secondhand good of mine. Doesn’t sound so good, does it?”
Luis’s face went dark. “You actually compare someone who loved you for five years as a second hand goods? That makes you a real jerk.”
A lump formed in my throat. I didn’t mean that, but picturing Deanna with him made my anger flare.
“You don’t love her, Luis. You’ve got plenty of women to play with. So why pick on her?” I snapped.
