Chapter 98 The Truth
Third–person POV:
Across from the Mistbane Mansion stood Cosmo Tower, its tall frame lit against the night.
Luis reached out, brushing a strand of hair from Deanna’s forehead. His touch was gentle, almost cautious.
With a faint smile he said, “What a shame. I planned a fireworks surprise for you tonight, and it was spoiled.”
For Deanna’s birthday, Luis had arranged fireworks that would light up the entire city.
To make sure everything went smoothly, his security team had covered the whole area with cameras and bodyguards.
He even had the night recorded in high definition.

Luis knew women liked to keep memories of special days, so he had ordered them to capture every moment in advance.
Deanna’s heart jolted.
A rush of emotions struck her like an arrow straight to the chest.
Her clear eyes turned misty as she stared at him stupidly.
This man was noble, steady, and untouchable.
He always looked like he was in control, like nothing could escape his grasp.
Luis’s green eyes locked on hers. His lips curved as he teased, “Don’t seduce me in front of everyone.”
Deanna had no words.
She couldn’t believe it. Even at a moment like this, the man still found a way to act shameless.
The flood of emotions crashing in her chest broke apart like a wave.
In their place rose a sudden, burning flush of embarrassment that spread across her face.
The heavy, suffocating weight she had been carrying began to fade, eased by that strange warmth.
Before long, two men dressed in black came forward carrying a large camera.
“Alpha, the video you asked for has been copied onto this device.”
Luis took it from them. His gaze was dark as he pressed play. His long fingers slid across the screen, skipping through the footage.
Everyone nearby held their breath, watching his every move in silence.
Then his hand paused.
His brow lifted. Without hesitation, he passed the device back to the man in black and ordered, “Play this clip.”
The crowd traded uncertain looks.

Could this device have recorded what happened inside the mansion bedroom?
What kind of camera was capable of that?
Following his command, the men aimed the massive camera at the white wall of the house, turning it into a screen.
A moment later, the video flickered to life before everyone’s eyes.

Sweat poured down Jillian’s back. The pain in her body vanished, drowned out by sheer terror, as though she were being swallowed whole by a monster.
Kathryn, standing nearby, assumed Jillian was simply afraid to watch herself falling from the window.
She tried to calm Jillian. “Don’t be afraid. I believe you. If there’s really a video, we’ll see the truth. Mr. Eaton won’t claim we accused the wrong person.”
Jillian clutched at Kathryn’s gown; she was shocked, her body trembling. “Mom… let’s not … Let’s not watch it.”
But it was too late. A cold, familiar voice came from the video.
“Deanna, after tonight, I’ll make sure you know what it means to have your reputation ruined.”
Then the footage showed Jillian closing her eyes and throwing herself out the window.
Gasps filled the room. Everyone stared in shock at the clear footage.
Every word, every sound had been recorded.
So that was it. Luis had set up high–tech cameras and surveillance just to play fireworks to put a smile on Deanna’s face.
Kathryn trembled in rage. She turned on Jillian, her face full of disbelief.
“Jillian, you lied to me.”
Jillian had never seen her mother look at her like that before–so cold, so empty, as if she were nothing but a stranger.
Terrified, she burst into tears.
“No, Mom, Dad, Desmond–it’s fake! All of it! It’s not real!”
But Kathryn no longer looked like the graceful woman from before. In that moment, she seemed ten years older.
She couldn’t help but slap Jillian harshly across the face.
“You really did it–you hurt yourself just to frame Deanna! That’s how you repay my trust? I raised you for 20 years, and this is what I get? Hahaha!”
She laughed bitterly, tears shining in her eyes. “I pushed Deanna aside because I didn’t want you upset. I spoiled you because I was afraid you’d be jealous. Every time you fought with her, I took your side. And now? Now you lie to me!”
Philip rushed to steady his wife, who looked ready to collapse. His eyes flicked at Jillian, who fell on the ground with a deep frown.
Jillian’s face was swollen from crying. She wanted to ask for their forgiveness, but her broken leg wouldn’t let her.
