Chapter 350: Wild Passion_Part 1

Knowing that she had somehow done this to him, Belle became less shaken as she opened the brown medicine box and took out what she needed.

"Raise your head up," she instructed gently as she wiped away the blood so she could clearly see the glass. A lump so huge rose in her throat as she looked at the open wound she had caused. How had she hurt him without realizing it was him? All she had felt was the threat from the shadowy figure and the urge to protect her own life. Never in a million years had she thought it could be her husband...

Belle never knew she could actually doctor him without trembling or bursting into more tears, but she found herself working automatically, as though she had done this many times before. She used a small pair of scissors to catch the tiny edge of the glass that was barely visible through the torn flesh, and then slowly but firmly pulled it out. The more it came out, the bigger it seemed the glass was getting, but if her husband felt any pain, he didn’t show it or make a single sound.

It was Belle who was in pain, almost crying for him. She pulled it completely out of his throat, and it fell to the ground with a heavy thud from its thickness. It was a very thick, long piece of glass with sharp edges. She watched with blurred eyes as the wound in his throat slowly began to close and heal by itself.

Once the gaping wound closed, Belle touched her hand to his throat and felt him clear it before he sighed and said, "That was a great relief. Thank you, love." He took the hand she laid on his throat and brought it to his lips and kissed it.

Belle pulled it back and stood up. She went to get a towel and came back, standing behind him, and she silently began to wipe his wet hair, his neck, and then his face.

"How did you get hurt?" she asked. Though already knowing, she wanted to confirm it.

Rohan leaned back on the chair and relaxed as she helped him dry his dripping hair. He was almost nonchalant about the whole thing as he told her about the things he had found out from her parents and then why he had gone to the old mansion and encountered a dark spirit.

"The spirit was overprotective of Isabelle’s things and demanded I put them back. I think it’s a part of herself she left behind after her death," Rohan said with a thoughtful look. "From what I know, a soul cannot leave a part of itself behind unless a reaper was involved."

A dark spirit, Belle thought, pausing briefly from her task of wiping his hair. Isabelle had started the fire that killed her in that house, according to the rumors. She was a madwoman, said the people who had known the history.

Then why was she disturbing Belle’s life now? Why were Isabelle’s rage and memories seeping into her? Isabelle had killed herself, though Belle was finding it hard to believe that part, yet she didn’t want anything to do with her. Not to mention the spirit she had left behind.

Rohan had said that only a reaper had the ability to leave behind a part of someone’s soul, which was known as a sprite.

"Could it be that... it has something to do with Astral again? Could the reaper have been the one to take her soul?" Belle said out loud for Rohan to hear her thoughts. Things were getting more and more complicated the deeper they dug into Isabelle’s past.

Furthermore, how come this dark spirit’s vision was transferred to her when she wasn’t even there? How had she made herself hurt her husband without even knowing?

"I also had that thought. From what I know," Rohan remarked, aware of his wife’s hand massaging his shoulders now, "Astral had broken many rules before mine that caused the reaper to become wanted and then disappear. I am starting to believe we are all connected somehow because of something the reaper had done, Isabelle, me, you, and then Kuhn... but I don’t know what that connection is, or why you look so much like Isabelle, or why you are glimpsing her life in your sleep."

Not to mention what Lady Louisiana had said and what he himself had witnessed that day when Belle was a little girl, both were different from each other. Something was wrong somewhere, and something was connecting them all together.

Just as Rohan was deep in thought, Belle was too, absentmindedly massaging and wiping his hair.

She had almost killed her husband and Jamie because of Isabelle. That part brothered her more than anything else.

"What did you take from her things?" Belle asked quietly.
