Married To The Mad Vampire Lord novel Chapter 352

Chapter 352: Caring_Part 1

A few hours ago, in the room Rav shared with Evenly, he sat on the couch, feeling uncomfortable in his own skin as many places on his body burned, but he couldn’t actually treat them. He had nothing to treat them with, and going to ask the people of this house for ointment wasn’t something he could bring himself to do, not unless they offered it to him first.

He didn’t believe that, as a person below their status, he had the right to ask for things whenever he wanted, despite the fact he was posing as a nobleman.

He still couldn’t believe her ladyship had such strength, enough to hit and injure him when he had only tried to stop her from killing the man.

Every punch and scratch had actually hit its mark on him, and now he couldn’t even relax because of the sore pains and discomfort. As a turned vampire, his healing ability was weak and only a little better than that of a human. Usually, it took an hour for his body to heal, but this time he didn’t understand why it was taking longer, especially the pain on his face and neck where her nails had dug into his flesh.

Rav couldn’t see the wounds, but whenever he touched them, his hand came away stained with blood. He noticed it again as lightning flashed through the window and thunder rumbled, causing Angel, who had been sleeping peacefully on the bed, to stir.

Automatically, Rav pushed himself up from where he had been sitting for two long hours waiting for his wounds to heal and walked over to the bed. He looked down at the sleeping baby, who had curled up his small form, and almost without thinking, he covered him with the blanket and adjusted it around him comfortably.

It was only after he was done that he realized he had touched the boy without feeling those horrible rushes of his past. It seemed those feelings came more strongly when Angel was awake.

Rav even reached out, almost tentatively, to stroke the boy’s smooth, thick hair, when he heard the door open and then slam shut. He instantly moved guiltily away from the sleeping baby and turned around to find Lady Evenly, panting as she pressed her back against the door, as though she had run all the way here from Belle’s room.

Rav frowned at her flushed face, wondering what had made her run, but he didn’t have the chance to ask before she moved away from the door. Her fine brows knit together as her eyes landed on his face.

"I knew you wouldn’t do anything about those scratches," she said with a tone of reproach. Walking swiftly into the room, she carried a box of medicines in her hand.

Without hesitation, she reached his side and pulled at his arm, causing Rav to impulsively pull back his arm. But she held him firmly, and before he knew it, she had all but dragged him back to the couch and pushed him down to sit. She then pulled a stool, set it in front of him, and dropped onto it, her gown gathering elegantly around her as she sat.

"Take off your shirt so I can treat the red lines on your neck properly," she said, the words spoken as though it were something completely normal for a woman to do for a man who was neither her husband nor her kin.

Rav couldn’t help the heat that flushed up his neck as he muttered, "You don’t have to do it. I can do—"

"Don’t argue with me again, Rav. Those lines must sting like hell," she cut in firmly, her eyes fixed on the slightly bleeding marks on his pale skin.

Being born and raised in the land of the vampires had not made Evenly into a shy lady who believed touching another man was a woman’s crime. Vampires were far more open-minded than humans, and what she had requested wasn’t outrageous in her world. She was only helping him, and seeing him shirtless wasn’t the same as seeing him completely naked.

Meanwhile, no matter how much time Rav had lived among the night creatures, he had not been born with their customs and ways. He was used to the human way of thinking, because even though he had spent most of his life in Nightbrook, he had done so in isolation with the duke. He had lived in the closed, suffocating space of the madhouse for many years, where everyone around him was either mad or cruel with twisted ways of torturing the insane.

So being asked to take off his shirt and allow a woman, one who wasn’t his wife, to treat his wounds was something entirely new to him, even embarrassing.

Rav began to fumble for words to tell her not to bother, but the lady surprised him by clicking her tongue impatiently and dropping the medicine box onto her lap. Then she boldly reached out her hand toward the buttons of his shirt, intending to unfasten them herself.
