Marrying Without My Eight-Year Boyfriend Knowing novel Chapter 63

I looked at James uncertainly. "So you saw everything?"

"Yes."

Nathan, noticing our closeness, got up from the ground, his eyes red. "Who is he?"

James seemed determined to provoke him, tightening his arm around my waist. "Her... fiancé."

"Lies! Let go of her! Olivia, he's lying, right? You're just doing this to get back at me?"

"The nerve of this guy..." my brother's voice came from behind us, making Nathan step back instinctively.

James and I turned to see Mark approaching, casually swinging a baseball bat.

I moved to stop him, but James held me back with his arm around my waist.

"What are you doing? My brother can be brutal!"

James chuckled, "Don't worry. I'm here; he won't go too far." He pulled out his phone and made a quick call. "Outside the Blake residence. Have an ambulance on standby."

I was speechless.

Nathan's face hardened as he looked from my brother back to me. "Olivia, we haven't broken up yet, have we? Our relationship isn't over. Even if he is your fiancé, you should break it off."

My brother smirked and swung the bat at Nathan's leg without warning. Nathan screamed, dropping to the ground.

"Been listening from inside. Bad enough you lied to my sister, but you had the nerve to hit her, Nathan? Don't ever call me your friend again."

He struck again, drawing another groan from Nathan, who kept his eyes fixed on me despite the pain, trying to crawl closer.

"Stop, Mark. That's enough," I said firmly.

My brother paused mid-swing.

Nathan laughed weakly. "See? You still care about me, Olivia. You can't let go, can you?"

I pulled away from James, walked over to Nathan, and crouched in front of him. Then, without hesitation, I slapped him hard across the face.

Then he nodded to the paramedics. "Take him."

Once Nathan was gone, James turned back, taking my hand gently.

"Skip breakfast at home. I'm taking you shopping," he said with a calm smile.

I blinked, stunned. After everything that just happened, he didn't ask questions or say anything else - just wanted to take me shopping?

"Why?" I had to ask.

He glanced back at me. "My mom says shopping helps women feel better when they're upset."

My brother suddenly jumped in. "I'm upset too. Take me shopping!"

James smoothly kicked him aside and whisked me away.

In the car, I tried to explain everything to him, but he just said, "The past is the past. I don't want you reopening old wounds. Trust me - none of that matters to me."

"Though I did like what you said about me being 'a man of integrity.' Say more nice things about me."
