Zachary smiled and said, "Candy makes people happy."
Roxanne unwrapped the candy and popped it into her mouth. It was orange flavored—light and refreshing. "I'm not unhappy though."
Maybe Zachary had heard her snapping at Sebastian and thought she was upset, but she really wasn't.
Zachary gently touched her hair, his eyes filled with tender affection. Roxanne felt a warm current flow through her heart.
"You and Sebastian…" he started.
Roxanne nodded. "We broke up."
"You're going abroad. Is it because of him?"
This time, Roxanne didn't hide anything. "Yes, it's because of him. He's crazy, so I have to leave."
Then, she grinned and said to him, "One should value one's life and stay away from psychos!"
Sebastian was refusing to break up, but why should she keep dragging it out with him? A year ago, she took a stab wound for Sebastian and spent three months in the hospital. Even after she took a knife for him, Sebastian only paid her frequent visits in the first month when her condition was still serious.
Once the doctors said she was no longer in danger, Sebastian went back to being cold and distant. He would show up once a week or maybe every ten days, sometimes going even longer periods without seeing her. And each time, he would just sit for a bit before leaving.
At first, she thought it was because he was busy, but Liana kept sending her messages every few days. Sebastian was always with her.
Even after Roxanne had taken a knife for him, she still wasn't the most important person to him. He felt responsible for Liana, but not for her. It was just a matter of who mattered most, and clearly, that person wasn't Roxanne.
