Liana was outraged. "Y-You two are in this together."
Nicholas shot her a cold look but didn't deny it. He was on Roxanne's side.
Roxanne looked down at her condescendingly. "A few days ago at the airport, I slapped you once and you ran off trying to bash your head into a pillar. Now, I've slapped you again. Why don't you go bash your head into the wall now? Go on then. You have plenty of walls to choose from."
Liana bit her lip.
Roxanne let out a mocking laugh. "Of course, you won't do that. You value your life too much. After all, Sebastian isn't here, so who would you be performing for? Liana, I'm warning you—don't play your little act in front of me again or I'll make you regret it for the rest of your life."
Nicholas waved her off from the side. "Just get lost already. Sebastian doesn't want to see you. You're not welcome here."
Liana's face turned pale with anger. Her fake sweetness and so-called charm only ever worked on Sebastian. No one else was buying it, so there was no point in staying here any longer. She stood up and glared viciously at Roxanne. "Roxane Sawyer, this isn't the end of it. Just you wait!"
With that, she turned and ran out of the hospital. The farther she ran, the more furious she felt. And the more furious she felt, the more her hatred festered. How could she not have noticed the growing coldness in Sebastian's attitude toward her?
Lately, he hadn't been answering her calls. He hadn't even come to see her. The truth was, without his tolerance, she would have never gotten close to him.
A flicker of devious scheming flashed in her eyes. She pulled out her phone, then walked to a quiet corner and dialed a number.
"Hello? Miles, Sebastian won't talk to me anymore. Please, I'm begging you—help me one more time."
A long sigh came from the other end of the line. "Liana, don't be so stubborn. It's been so many years. If Sebastian really had feelings for you, you two would've been together by now. Don't keep deceiving yourself. If this keeps up and the truth gets out, we're all going to be in deep trouble."
With Miles backing her up, how could Sebastian possibly distance himself from her? After all, Miles had died trying to save him.
Sebastian was a man who valued responsibility above all else. As long as she still had Miles as leverage, Sebastian could never truly ignore Liana.
She wouldn't let Sebastian escape her, and she wouldn't let Roxanne have the last laugh either. If she couldn't have him, then Roxanne could forget about getting him either!
And as for what Nicholas had just said about Roxanne being already married to another man? She would like to see what Kate would do when she found out that Roxanne was married and still clinging to Sebastian.
Now, that was a powerful bargaining chip.
