Mending a Broken Love (Roxanne and Sebastian) novel Chapter 188

Sebastian was wheeled out an hour later. His tall frame lay on the gurney, looking fragile. His face was pale and devoid of any color. He appeared broken and vulnerable.

Roxanne had never seen him like this before.

The emergency doctor said to Nicholas, "He injured his lungs in a fit of anger, and that kick hit just the right spot, causing the wound to rupture. Fortunately, it's no longer critical. Once the anesthesia wears off, he'll wake up on his own.

"But remember, he needs complete rest—no stress, no anger, no emotional outbursts. Otherwise, it could be very dangerous for him."

Roxanne wasn't a medical professional, but even she felt terrified hearing that.

Nicholas was a doctor, so he naturally understood how serious the situation was. He let out a long sigh of relief. Then, together with Roxanne, they wheeled Sebastian to a hospital ward for rest.

The doctor started an IV on Sebastian.

"I'll go get him something to eat for when he wakes up later," Nicholas said to Roxanne.

Roxanne nodded. Once Nicholas left, the large hospital ward was left with just her and Sebastian. This kind of situation wasn't new to her.

In the past, whenever Sebastian got sick or had a stomach problem, she would stay by his side and care for him around the clock. She would treat the doctor's advice like a mission and pay attention to Sebastian's every move.

It had only been a short month since their engagement party was called off, yet so much had happened between her and Sebastian. Her mindset had already changed. She tucked his blanket and then quietly sat by his side to keep watch over him.

When Nicholas returned, he saw Roxanne slumped at the foot of the bed, looking utterly drained.

When Sebastian woke up, he saw the red ceiling above him. Something broken fleeted across his dark eyes. He was in the hospital again.

He knew Roxanne would undoubtedly leave him, just like she had so many times in the past month. It felt like a piece of his heart had been hollowed out, and no matter what, he couldn't fix it.

He turned over in despair, not wanting to dwell on the thoughts that would make him even sadder. But the moment he turned, he saw the face that made his heart leap with surprise.

Roxanne was lying right beside him. Seeing her, a wave of joy filled his empty heart. He felt all warm and complete inside. He didn't even realize he was smiling.

Lying quietly on his side, Sebastian watched the sleeping Roxanne. He noticed her long, curly eyelashes. Even with her eyes closed, her upper and lower lashes didn't quite touch. Her tightly shut eyelids formed clean, delicate lines. They were perfect in shape.

Her nose was small yet defined, a blend of cuteness and sharp structure. Her skin was slightly tan and seemed to glow. There was not a single pore on her face in sight, her skin smooth and refined. Even her forehead was clear and bright.
