After all these years, Roxanne had long understood.
It didn't matter whether Liana was putting on a show or not. Most importantly, Sebastian was willing to indulge her. So, Liana could do whatever she wanted without a care in the world.
Roxanne was a fiancée in name only since she always had to be cautious. That was the difference between a loved woman and an uncherished one.
Roxanne lay leisurely on the hospital bed. Upon looking up, she noticed Sebastian was rooted to the same spot while carrying Liana in his arms. He was gazing intensely at Roxanne.
Roxanne was taken aback for a moment before scowling at him. "Quickly take Liana back to her ward. Why are you still standing there? Are you actually hoping I'd apologize to her? She already fainted, so she can't hear me anyway!"
Roxanne noticed Liana, who was supposed to have lost consciousness, clench her fist. Perhaps Liana had pretended to black out because she decided she wouldn't be satisfied until she received an apology from her.
Sebastian lifted Liana bridal-style. "I'll take her back to her ward. I'll be back very soon."
Roxanne waved him off. "Hurry up and go. She needs you more than I do. Just be with her! Also, ask someone to drop off a new blanket once you're outside. This one's wet, so I can't use it."
Sebastian's brows furrowed. Roxanne met his intense gaze but had no idea what was on his mind.
After he carried Liana out of the ward, Roxanne shut her eyes to rest, feeling completely at ease.
The old Roxanne would definitely have been in despair and might even have waited for him with hope in her eyes. After all, Sebastian did say that he would be back very soon.
Roxanne used to feel disheartened because she cared for Sebastian and had expectations of him. Now, she was unusually calm. She no longer cared about Sebastian and didn't yearn for him.
After their first engagement party was canceled, Sebastian forcefully brought Roxanne back. At that time, she naïvely thought he had finally fallen for her after so many years and wanted to take care of her. The truth proved how naïve Roxanne had been.
