The driver had barely finished bragging when, in the next instant, a knife was at his throat.
His foot slammed on the brakes, and sweat began to bead on his forehead.
Behind them, three cars followed closely.
Josefina switched off the walkie-talkie, making sure no sound from inside the car could be heard on the other end.
The driver, shocked, stammered, "How are you not knocked out?"
Josefina smirked. "That weak sedative? Please, it wouldn't even make me blink."
Josefina, an expert in pharmacology, had sensed something was off as soon as she got into the car. She had taken an antidote pill she had crafted herself, capable of neutralizing many poisons. With the poison neutralized, there was no way she was going to pass out.
The driver's hands trembled on the wheel as Josefina kept an eye on the walkie-talkie. She pressed a button and a man's voice came through, "Harry, what's going on? Is there an issue in the car?"
Josefina's knife moved slightly forward, and a thin line of blood appeared on the driver's neck.
Panicked, the driver responded quickly, "All good here, just had a rat jump out at me, gave me quite the scare."
"Keep your eyes on the road and stay focused. Any problems, you let me know right away."
"Will do."
Josefina repeated the process, making sure their conversation remained private.
She demanded, "Who sent you to kidnap me? Those two cops, they were fakes, weren't they?"
The driver confessed, "Yeah, the cops were fake. I don't know who's behind the kidnapping. I was just in it for the cash."
"Dirty money, and you call that earning cash?" Josefina snapped, her patience wearing thin.
Too terrified to speak, the driver remained silent. Josefina pressed on, "Where were you planning to take me? Spill it, or I'll snap your neck!"
