Miss Josefina: Nobody's Princess novel Chapter 552

Ruby couldn’t hear Lauren's voice anymore; instead, she was greeted by the stern voice of a police officer instructing her to come to the station immediately to assist with an investigation.

When Ruby learned that Lauren had thrown sulfuric acid at Josefina, she blurted out with a mix of shock and twisted delight, "Did Josefina's face get messed up? Good job, Lauren!"

Deep down, Ruby was hoping Josefina’s face was ruined.

When she found out Josefina had escaped unscathed, Ruby was fuming with anger and silently cursed her luck for not having Josefina's beauty tarnished.

"Ruby, we need you to cooperate with our investigation," the officer's voice was unyielding.

"Yeah, I got it. I'm on my way," Ruby lied, hanging up the phone with no intention of going to the station.

Go there? Not a chance.

She told her driver to step on it, to get her to the airport as fast as possible.

Once inside the airport, Ruby felt a wave of relief wash over her. But her moment of respite was short-lived as she dashed through the terminal, only to be stopped by two men flashing badges.

"Ruby, please come with us for questioning," they said in an authoritative tone.

Realizing there was no escape, she begrudgingly followed them.

...

Meanwhile, Oliver was working in his office when an unfamiliar number flashed on his phone. He picked up and was met with Lena's voice, "Oliver, your dear Josefina is with me."

Stunned, Oliver immediately texted Josefina, but got no response. He then messaged Dorian, asking him to reach out to her as well.

But Lena’s voice cut through again, "Oliver, if you want Josefina safe and sound, you’ll have one hundred million in cash ready within thirty minutes. Don’t contact the police, and don’t tell anyone. Or else, I’ll make good on my threat."

After Lena hung up, Oliver sprang into action, directing his team to investigate while instructing George to gather the money. Grabbing his phone and car keys, he rushed out.

Soon after, Dorian called, "Oliver, if you’re so concerned about my sister, why don’t you just call her? Or, are you the reason she’s in trouble?"

"Dorian, you've got quite the imagination. How could I ever mistreat Josie?" Oliver retorted coolly.
