Moonlight In Chains (Trinity and Asher) novel Chapter 39

The following morning when I woke up Asher was already awake and in the shower. So I got up and I

walked towards the bathroom where I saw him in the shower.

I walked closer to the shower and he turned around to look at me just as I opened the door and I stepped

  1. in.

You’re up early.” I said.

Yeah. Stuff to do today. Do you still have your class this morning? He asked.

Unfortunately. Are you free for it? I can go on my own.I said.

Hell no. You’re not going anywhere alone. I’m coming with you.He said, grabbing me around my waist

and pulling me against him.

Alright. You worry too much.I said.

You don’t worry enough.” He said.

We got the stalker.I said.

Yeah. But he’s not the one that left the photos outside your house. He didn’t take the photos that were left

outside your house. There’s still someone else.He said.

Do you really think it’s my parents?I asked.

Who else? They have a motive.” He said.

How many warriors are you insisting on taking with us today?I asked.

Enough to protect us.” He said.

I think you might be worrying too much.I smirked at him.

And I don’t think you’re worrying enough.He said.

After we showered and got dressed we went to the dining room where everyone was waiting for us to

have breakfast.

Gage and Arlo were both there but so was Nicole, who sat there glaring at me the whole time.

I was starting to wonder if she was living here too because she just always seemed to be around. But the

death stares were definitely starting to become too much.

I ate as fast as I could before I headed back to my house and I got everything I needed for class that day.

When I walked back to the kitchen I saw an envelope on the kitchen table.

I froze for a moment, but I quickly walked over and opened it up.

There were photos inside of me the day before at college. And Asher was visible in most of the photos,

along with the warriors. They were letting me know that they knew who the warriors were, even though they were young and dressed as college kids. These people knew exactly who my protection detail was, which means, they knew these warriors.

Asher walked into the house while I was standing there looking at the photos and he took them off of me.

I think it might be a good idea to stay home today.he said.

What? No. I’m not letting these bastards take anything else from me. They’ve taken enough already.” I

said.

Alright. Well, I’m calling the head warrior. I’m changing the warriors that we’re taking today. I think it might be best if we take different ones each day to throw them off a little. He said.

Yeah. Might be a good idea. Especially since my dad knows the habits of all the warriors. If they plan for a specific day based on the warriors then it might be good to change it up.” I said.

As soon as the new warriors arrived at my house I grabbed my stuff and Asher and I got in his car and we

drove to school.

I only had one class that morning but we were coming up on midterms and I couldn’t afford to miss any

classes at all.

So I sat there paying close attention and taking down notes, knowing that Asher and the warriors were outside checking out everyone who was looking suspicious.

I just hope he wasn’t going around scaring the humans that go to this school. That definitely wouldn’t be

good.

I don’t want him getting banned from the grounds or anything like that.

When class was over Asher was waiting for me outside and he looked happy to see me but I could see

that there was a little worry in his eyes as well.

What’s going on?I asked.

It’s nothing. Don’t worry about it.” He said.

You know that I can tell when you’re lying, right?I asked.

Really? Can we just get home?He asked.

So, they’re here?I asked.

I don’t know. There was a van in the car park before. I was about to go and talk to the driver when they

took off.He said.

Alright. That’s suspicious and weird. But we don’t know that they were watching us. A lot of college girls have stalkers.” I said, looking at him very seriously.

What’s scary is that you actually believe that.” He said.

Well, I haven’t heard of any stalker case being reported in this area. I think you’re the only one at the moment. He said. And I started laughing.

You’re ridiculously cute when you’re all serious,I teased, grinning at him.

Knock it off,” he muttered, trying to hide a smile.

But whyyy?I singsonged, leaning in closer. You’re adorably cute.”

I kept poking at himliterally and verballyuntil Asher finally scooped me up like I weighed nothing and slung me over his shoulder. I squealed, half laughing, half protesting, especially when his hand landed with a playful smack.

Asher!I laughed, kicking my legs.

That’s what you get,” he said smugly, striding toward the car.

Alright, alright! I surrender!I giggled, my voice bouncing upsidedown.

But he didn’t pull me off his shoulder until we were next to his car and he still didn’t put me down on the

ground.

Would you stop making fun of me?He asked as we were face to face and I wasn’t touching the ground.

Nope. Things have become way too serious between us and I want it to stop.I said.

Right. You want us to have more fun?He asked.

Yeah. Something like that.I said. So he shook his head.

Alright. We’ll start having more fun.He said kissing me before putting me on the ground and he opened

the door.

I got in the car with Asher and noticed warriors casually heading to their cars, blending in so well the other

students never suspected a thing.

Asher took a different route home, which wasn’t unusualhe often studied maps to avoid ambushes. But

soon he was driving faster, checking the mirror.

How long have they been following us?I asked.

Since we left the highway,he said. They hid well among the cars.

I glanced back and spotted a vanprobably the same one from school.

Asher mindlinked the warriors. You see this?

Yeah,one replied. We’re on it.

Asher sped up, and the van matched our pace.

I scanned the forestno wolves, no cars. They hadn’t expected us on this road. But soon we’d have to turn

toward the main pack entrance.

How do we get in? They could be waiting on the dirt road,I asked.

We’re not taking that road,” Asher said.

There’s only forest ahead where this road ends at the pack.”

I know.
