Chapter 109
“We’ve been apart for six years, and we both got married. The
wife you married is noble and beautiful, a thousand, a million
times better than me!”
“I’ve been married, my husband died, and I’ve had a child. All I
want now is to live a good life for my child. I won’t be having
any of those unrealistic girlish dreams!”
“I have to earn money to raise my child, earn money for his
school, I have to support my mom, and pay rent, utilities… I
really don’t have the energy or the cunning to plot against
others.”
As Georgina spoke, she started to cry:
“Jay, tell your wife about Leandro’s identity.”
“Just pretend I never saved you back then. Just pretend
everything I’m suffering today is my own fault.”
“If one day your grandfather abandons the two of us on some street corner or deserted island in some country, or if we die
mysteriously, you don’t have to worry too much about us.
Because our lives are already hopeless, and death might be
another form of release for us.”
The dark clouds in Jayceon’s eyes slowly dissipated.
He walked up to Georgina, his voice softening unconsciously,
“Since I promised you, I will absolutely keep my word. Just
focus on taking care of Leandro, and call me if you need
anything.”
Jayceon didn’t say much more and left directly.
Even though Georgina had suffered inhuman torture for the
past six years and her life’s happiness had been ruined, she
was still the same upright, kind Georgina she once was.
He had been overthinking it.
For the next period of time, Georgina completely behaved
herself.
In order to quickly integrate into the circle of the wealthy and get closer to Jayceon, Georgina frantically live–streamed to gain. followers, even maxing out her credit cards to get plastic
surgery.
Far away in Brazoria, Arabella threw herself completely into her
career, blocking out all the bad people and things.
In the blink of an eye, it was early November.
On the First Day of Winter, Jayceon returned to the old family
home to have a meal with the elders.
Sir reminded Jayceon, “Jay, the contract signing process
between the Melendez Group and the Hongyu Group is
complete. I’ve entrusted Lawyer Caldwell to handle your divorce
matters entirely. If there’s anything you need to be aware of,
communicate with Lawyer.”
Jayceon put down his fork and his face turned cold, “Grandpa,
I’ve said it before, no one gets to decide about my marriage.”
Seeing the tense atmosphere, Kimberly quickly changed the
subject, “Brother, send me my sister–in–law’s address abroad.
It’s her birthday tomorrow, I want to send her something.”
Jayceon grunted in acknowledgment and left the dining room.
The next evening, in Brazoria.
After a busy day at work, Arabella walked back to her
apartment.
Today was her birthday.
She was on the phone with her parents the whole way.
Hearing her parents say ‘I’m hanging up‘ several times without
actually ending the call, Arabella couldn’t help but tear up.
At that moment, she was especially homesick.
She lied, “Dad, Mom, my coworkers already celebrated my
birthday with me. Don’t worry too much about me, I’ll be back at
the end of the year,”
She hung up heartlessly before getting in the elevator.
In the past, a large group of people would always celebrate her
birthday with her.
Because her birthday was November 8th, and Jayceon’s was
October 28th.
She was a November Scorpio, and he was an October Scorpio.
Jayceon didn’t like a fuss and almost never celebrated his birthday.
So, starting in her early teens, she would pester Jayceon to celebrate his birthday on the same day as hers, making him blow out candles and make wishes with her.
Over time, everyone just remembered that she and Jayceon were both Scorpios who shared the same birthday.
Back at her apartment, Arabella washed her hands and went into the kitchen to make herself some Traditional Birthday Noodles.
Her phone on the counter lit up with a message.
It was from Jayceon.
Two short words: Open the door.
Arabella saw Jayceon’s text and stopped what she was doing.
Jayceon was very goal–oriented.
The lawyer she hired had already submitted all the evidence to
the court, and the hearing was next week.
His reason for flying to Brazoria so late was none other than to protect his and his beloved woman’s reputation, and to
persuade her to drop the lawsuit.
After thinking it over, Arabella left the kitchen, turned off all the lights in the apartment, and went back to her bedroom.
Just as Arabella was about to get into bed, her phone rang.
A female colleague from next door called her, asking if she was back and telling her someone was at the door for her.
