**Her Spark Ignites Tonight**
**By J.S. Caldwell**
**Chapter 168**
Tears streamed down her cheeks as she pleaded, “Sir, I understand that my position is far beneath yours, and I feel unworthy of Jay. But please, you have to realize that Jay and I share a child. Leandro is your great-grandson. I’m begging you, for the sake of our child, please allow us to live together!”
A fierce glint ignited in Sir’s eyes, his expression hardening like stone. “Your consent is irrelevant! This is not a matter for you to decide!”
As soon as Sir’s words echoed through the room, Oliver made a swift gesture with his hand, and a group of bodyguards surged forward, their movements precise and practiced. They were well aware of Jayceon’s capabilities, and thus, they approached him from behind, attempting to restrain him with their combined strength.
Jayceon’s heart raced as he watched Georgina being forcibly dragged away by the bodyguards. In that moment, he shot a desperate glance at Arabella, his eyes pleading for her to remember the promise she made in the car. “Don’t forget what you promised me back there!”
Their gazes locked in a tense silence, each second stretching longer than the last. Arabella, her heart pounding, stepped forward, halting the bodyguards who were intent on taking Georgina away. She stood protectively in front of her, determination radiating from her every pore.
With a steady voice, Arabella approached Sir, her heart pounding in her chest. “Grandfather, please, let them be together.”
The fury in Sir’s eyes flared to life, igniting a fire within him. “You worthless girl!” he shouted, his voice echoing with disdain. Rising from his seat, he raised his cane, swinging it menacingly toward Arabella.
Arabella, refusing to back down, closed her eyes for a brief moment, grounding herself. No matter the consequences, she knew she had to secure Georgina’s position tonight; this was a chance she could not let slip away.
“Arabella!”
As the cane descended, Jayceon’s instincts kicked in. With a surge of raw power, he broke free from the grip of the bodyguards holding him back. In a heartbeat, he lunged forward, catching Arabella by the waist and pulling her into his protective embrace.
A muffled grunt escaped him as the cane struck him instead, and Arabella’s eyes widened in horror as she saw blood trickling down Jayceon’s forehead.
In an outburst fueled by fear and anger, Jayceon shouted at Arabella, “Why didn’t you dodge?!”
Arabella, shaken, lowered her gaze, pushing him away gently. Not far from them, Georgina stood frozen, her mind racing. She had always believed that Jayceon had no feelings for Arabella, yet here he was, defending her with reckless abandon.
After a moment of hesitation, Georgina finally found her voice. “This is all my fault. I should never have returned. Sir, please, punish me instead!”
With a mere glance from Sir, two bodyguards seized Georgina, pulling her back against her will.
Jayceon, gritting his teeth against the pain, stepped toward Sir, determination etched on his face. “Grandfather, six years ago, you sent Georgina away, trying to tear us apart. This time, I won’t allow you to take her from me again!”
As those words hung in the air, Jayceon turned his gaze toward Arabella, an unexplainable urge to connect with her washing over him.
Arabella stood still, her head bowed, her expression a mask of unreadable emotions.
Sir advanced a few paces, his cane tapping against the ground with authority. “If she dares to disrupt your marriage, I will take her life!”
Jayceon stood before Arabella, his expression one of shock and disbelief.
Seeing the tears spill from her eyes, cascading down her pale cheeks, a sharp ache pierced his heart. Her words, her soft “congratulations,” every utterance of “Jay,” felt like daggers, carving into his very soul, deep and heavy, drawing forth a river of sorrow.
Georgina watched as Jayceon moved toward Arabella, his demeanor flustered and cautious, as if entranced by an unseen force.
Desperate to intervene, she fought against the bodyguards holding her and rushed to stand in front of Jayceon, blocking his path.
“Jay, what do we do? You were just helping me! How did it come to this?” she cried, her voice trembling with urgency.
Georgina’s tears broke through Jayceon’s daze, pulling him back to reality.
He swallowed hard, suppressing the tumult of unfamiliar feelings swirling within him, and reached out to comfort Georgina. “Georgina, don’t worry. As long as I’m here, I’ll make sure you’re safe.”
Hearing his words of reassurance, Georgina felt a flicker of relief, her anxious heart finally finding some semblance of calm.
With deliberate steps, she approached Arabella, her tone shifting to one of false humility. “I’m truly sorry, Mrs. Melendez. This misunderstanding is entirely my fault. If you’re upset, please, take it out on me. Just don’t let this harm your relationship with Jay.”
Arabella steadied herself, her emotions swirling like a tempest within her, and asked Georgina, her voice as calm as she could muster, “Ms. Carrillo, do you love Jayceon?”
