**Her Spark Ignites Tonight**
**By J.S. Caldwell**
**Chapter 217**
Arabella felt a knot of apprehension tighten in her chest. Despite the absence of a prenuptial agreement that could have empowered her, she refrained from pushing the boundaries of her relationship with Jayceon. The truth was, Jayceon’s indifference towards her was palpable, and she knew that provoking him could lead to consequences she wasn’t prepared to face. If she truly angered him, she would simply have to endure whatever fallout followed.
But surely, sharing separate rooms was a reasonable compromise, wasn’t it?
Jayceon’s pride was as towering as his arrogance; there was no chance he would ever agree to undergo a medical examination to confirm he was in good health.
It was eight in the morning, and Arabella was just stepping out of her car in the hospital parking lot when she spotted Georgina strutting towards her in a pair of high heels that clicked ominously against the pavement.
Georgina approached with a confidence that bordered on audacity, blocking Arabella’s path with a smile that was more provocative than friendly. “Mrs. Melendez, may I steal a few moments of your time?” she asked, her tone dripping with feigned sweetness.
Arabella halted, her heart racing with indignation.
Georgina continued, “Oh, don’t let last night trouble you. Mrs. Melendez simply missed her grandson, so she asked Jay and me to bring him over for a visit. We ended up sharing dinner, nothing more.”
Arabella’s expression twisted in disgust as she scrutinized Georgina. “And when does Mrs. Melendez intend to formally accept your son into the paternal family? When will you both be welcomed into the Melendez clan?”
The sharpness of Arabella’s words cut through Georgina’s facade, causing her expression to flicker.
Georgina, suppressing her anger momentarily, replied with a forced air of generosity, “Arabella, I can see the jealousy in your eyes, but you really don’t need to resort to insults just to get a rise out of me.”
She added, “If I hadn’t persuaded Jay to return home early to be with you last night, he would have stayed at my place. So really, you have nothing to feel proud about.”
In a bold move, Arabella pulled a thick wad of cash from her handbag and tossed it provocatively at Georgina’s feet. “Georgina, let’s make a deal. If you can convince Jayceon to spend the night at your place next time, I’ll reward you for every single night he stays.”
Arabella watched as Georgina’s face tensed, the muscles visibly tightening in response to her challenge.
As Arabella turned her gaze away, she spotted a colleague waving from a distance. She shot Georgina a look filled with disdain before saying, “Instead of wasting your energy on me, why not focus on satisfying Jayceon? He was trying to force himself on me last night, and I had to push him away. This is your perfect opportunity to show him that you care.”
With that, Arabella walked away, leaving Georgina frozen in place, her lower lip caught between her teeth as she seethed.
They were on the brink of divorce, yet here she was, still desperate to share a bed with Jayceon. He had promised her he would help her, that he would leave his wife to support her ambitions, but it had all been a web of lies.
“Bitch!” Georgina hissed under her breath, frustration boiling over.
She muttered curses under her breath, still reeling from the unexpected assault. Four slaps from a stranger, and even her hair extensions had been yanked out.
Thank goodness she had managed to protect her freshly injected nose; otherwise, she would have been stuck at home for days.
The audacity of the world to confront her so early in the morning! Even random strangers felt empowered to bully her.
Georgina’s frustration boiled over, and she gripped the steering wheel tightly, letting out two screams of sheer rage.
Once she secured her marriage to Jayceon and established herself as the matriarch of Zelmere’s most esteemed family, she would show everyone who dared to look down on her.
By evening, Georgina stood precisely on time outside Jayceon’s apartment building, her heart racing with anticipation.
As she spotted Jayceon emerging from his car, she rushed toward him, her excitement palpable.
However, upon noticing the red, swollen bruise on Georgina’s cheek, Jayceon’s brow furrowed with concern. “What happened to your face?” he asked, his tone laced with genuine worry.
Georgina instinctively covered her face, playing the victim. “Jay, your mother called me last night and insisted I bring the child over to see her. I didn’t mean to intrude on you and your wife.”
