**Chapter 329**
Jayceon’s eyes landed on his mother and sister, a mixture of irritation and disbelief swirling within him. The scene before him was both familiar and unsettling.
Georgina, ever perceptive, followed Jayceon’s gaze and noticed the elderly woman, Tabitha, standing awkwardly at the edge of the room. A smirk tugged at the corners of Tabitha’s mouth, and Jayceon felt a surge of annoyance.
“Jay,” Georgina began, her voice laced with a hint of defensiveness, “don’t be upset. I thought it would be a good idea to invite them over since they’re your family. I wanted to ease the tension, you know? So, I had Olivia extend the invitation!”
As Georgina’s words hung in the air, Gloria burst into the hall, her expression overly cheerful. “Georgina, Georgina! I brought the people…”
A sharp glance from Georgina made Gloria quickly amend her statement. “I mean, your brother, sister-in-law, and the little one had nothing to do at home, so they decided to join the fun.”
Georgina watched as Arabella and Blaire stepped into the room, a satisfied smile creeping onto her face. “Mom, why don’t you take my brother, sister-in-law, and the kid to grab something to eat?”
Gloria nodded enthusiastically, her maternal instincts kicking in as she guided her son, daughter-in-law, and Leandro away from the gathering.
Jayceon’s attention shifted back to Arabella, who had just entered. A frown creased his brow as their eyes met from across the room. Without thinking, he found himself moving toward her, drawn by an invisible thread.
But Georgina was quicker. She stepped in front of him, her demeanor bold and assertive. “Jay, I didn’t expect Dr. Palmer to be here, too. Let me accompany you and say hello.”
Jayceon’s expression turned icy as he subtly pushed Georgina aside. “That’s not necessary,” he replied, his tone clipped.
Blaire leaned closer to Arabella, her voice a conspiratorial whisper. “Bella, did this ugly hag drag you here just to flaunt her affection with Mr. Melendez?”
Arabella rolled her eyes, pulling Blaire toward Tabitha. “Whether she flaunts it or not, she’s going to meet her end soon.”
Once indifferent to Georgina’s fate, Arabella felt a flicker of curiosity. Georgina had crossed a line, orchestrating a scene at the Palmer family’s doorstep with her mother, brother, and sister-in-law.
With that in mind, Arabella decided to stick around for the spectacle.
As she approached Tabitha, the older woman’s expression twisted in frustration. “What on earth is Georgina trying to pull by calling us all here?”
Samuel, ever the voice of reason, chimed in, “Aunt Tabitha, since we’re already here, let’s consider it a form of entertainment.”
Blaire tilted her head, her curiosity piqued. “Do you know something we don’t?”
Samuel playfully pushed Blaire’s head away, a smirk on his face. This girl might seem unreliable, but her instincts were sharper than most.
Sensing the awkwardness in the atmosphere, Olivia quickly interjected, “Mr. Melendez, I wonder what precious gift you’ve prepared for Georgina today. Could you bring it out for us to see?”
The crowd echoed her enthusiasm, eager to see what Jayceon had in store.
Georgina glanced at Jayceon, who stood beside her, his face a mask of indifference. A flicker of doubt crossed her mind as she turned her gaze back to Arabella.
With a deliberately flirtatious tone, she said, “Jay, didn’t you mention having an unforgettable birthday gift ready for me? Since everyone is so curious, why not bring it out and let them see~”
Samuel couldn’t resist a grin, “Jay, since Ms. Carrillo can’t wait, don’t keep us in suspense. Hurry up and show everyone the birthday gift you prepared for her.”
Seth, with his striking mixed-race features and deep brown eyes, scanned the room with a mischievous glint. He leaned toward Arabella, asking, “Bella, doesn’t it seem like Mr. Melendez is up to no good?”
Arabella gently patted Seth’s arm, urging him to release his grip. “Just keep grabbing the popcorn. Don’t speculate.”
Seth nodded obediently, his curiosity momentarily quelled.
Just then, Steve maneuvered through the crowd, making his way to Jayceon’s side, ready to join the unfolding drama.
