**TITLE: Her Spark Ignites Tonight**
**By J.S. Caldwell**
**Chapter 60**

Jayceon felt a lump in his throat as he instinctively reached for Arabella’s hand, his movement deliberate yet hesitant, as if he were afraid of what her reaction might be.

But Arabella, sensing his approach, deftly sidestepped, avoiding his touch with a swift motion that spoke volumes.

Jayceon’s hand met nothing but empty air, and he let it fall to his side, the weight of his unfulfilled intentions heavy upon him.

With a slight tilt of her head, Arabella gazed up into his eyes, her expression a mixture of pain and resolve. “Do you remember that day we returned to the mansion after our honeymoon?” she asked, her voice steady, yet laced with an undercurrent of emotion.

His throat tightened, and Jayceon’s voice emerged hoarse and strained as he replied, “I remember.”

Arabella continued, her words deliberate, “That conversation you had with your father? I heard every word.”

A flicker of realization crossed Jayceon’s face as he whispered her name, “Arabella,” as if trying to grasp the gravity of her statement.

With a clarity that cut through the tension, Arabella echoed his earlier words, “You said that if the Palmer family went bankrupt and you helped, you could gain both fame and fortune.”

In a sudden rush of urgency, Jayceon stepped forward, his hands gripping Arabella’s shoulders with a mix of desperation and fear. “Arabella, stop!” he urged, his voice strained.

But Arabella was undeterred. “You said marrying me was a calculated move, that you were settling, that you had no other choice,” she pressed on, her voice trembling.

As she spoke, tears began to cascade down her cheeks, each drop a testament to the pain she had endured.

Jayceon’s heart ached at the sight of her tears, and he instinctively pulled her into his arms, feeling as though his heart was being crushed under an unbearable weight.

Arabella didn’t resist. Instead, she leaned into him, her voice muffled against his chest. “After that, I never dared to be willful again, and I certainly didn’t dare to act out. I tried so hard to please you, always walking on eggshells in the Melendez family. I was terrified you’d despise me, terrified you’d leave me,” she confessed, her words spilling out in a torrent of vulnerability. “Jayceon, I stopped being that proud and bossy Ms. Palmer a long time ago. Haven’t you noticed at all?”

The hospital park was nearly deserted in the early morning light, a stark contrast to the emotional storm brewing between them.

A few passersby glanced their way, drawn in by the striking appearance of Jayceon in his tailored suit and Arabella in her flowing white dress; to the outside world, they appeared to be the epitome of glamour and harmony.

Jayceon stumbled backward, caught off guard by the weight of her accusation.

For a long moment, silence enveloped them, the world around them fading away as they grappled with their emotions.

Finally, he found his voice again, though it was laced with a sense of finality. “A divorce is impossible. I know you’re hurting and can’t accept this right now. You can stay with your parents until we resolve the issues between us,” he stated, his tone resolute.

Arabella felt her composure slipping away. “Jayceon, I don’t want to prolong this agony. One phone call from your grandfather cost me my job. I just want to live my own life. I want nothing to do with the Melendez family anymore!”

Jayceon stepped closer, his demeanor softening as he reached out to steady her. “Arabella, as long as you agree not to divorce, I promise your job will remain secure. I’ll transfer all my assets to your name. I’ll even draft a will if that’s what you want,” he offered, his voice gentle yet filled with urgency.

Arabella shook her head vehemently. “I can lose my job; I can survive without the money, but I need a divorce,” she insisted, her resolve hardening.

The hand Jayceon had used to steady her fell to his side, and the warmth in his expression gradually turned icy, leaving a chasm of unresolved emotions between them.
