**Her Spark Ignites Tonight**
**By J.S. Caldwell**
**Chapter 150**
Arabella spoke softly, making a concerted effort to mask any hint of insincerity that might betray her true feelings. She could feel the weight of Jayceon’s gaze upon her, and the last thing she wanted was for him to sense any uncertainty in her voice.
“I promise, Jayceon,” she declared, her tone earnest yet light, “from now on, if it’s not something crucial, I’ll do my best to come home earlier. I don’t want you to worry.”
Jayceon took both of Arabella’s hands in his, his expression inscrutable, a mix of concern and something deeper. “I’m telling you to stay away from him for your own good,” he urged, his voice steady but edged with an undercurrent of protectiveness.
Arabella nodded, her compliance evident, yet her resolve remained intact. “But the Melendez family assured me they wouldn’t interfere with my work,” she countered, her voice firm as she stood her ground.
Jayceon sighed, the tension in his shoulders easing slightly. “Contact during work hours is perfectly acceptable, but outside of that, I need you to be cautious,” he insisted, his gaze piercing as it searched her face for understanding.
She met his deep, complex gaze, feeling a flutter of emotions swirling within her. After a brief moment of hesitation, she decided to compromise, her voice softening. “Don’t worry, I’m always conscious of my position as Mrs. Melendez. I’ll be careful about what I say and do.”
The furrow in Jayceon’s brow gradually smoothed, a flicker of relief passing through his eyes. “Will you still hang up on me in the future?” he asked, his tone unconsciously softening, revealing a vulnerability that made Arabella’s heart flutter.
In a playful gesture, Arabella moved closer, raising her hand as if taking an oath. “I promise it won’t happen again,” she assured him, her voice light and teasing.
A mischievous smile danced on her lips, and as their eyes locked, the air between them thickened with unspoken tension. Jayceon’s gaze on her intensified, and Arabella felt a rush of warmth flood through her.
Understanding the unspoken invitation in his eyes, she slowly withdrew her hands and, with a boldness that surprised even herself, settled onto Jayceon’s lap. It was a transaction, after all; there had to be an exchange of power. Jayceon possessed wealth and influence, while she had only her body to offer.
With her arms encircling his neck, she leaned in closer, her voice a mere whisper. “Hubby, can you give me that jewelry set?” The word “back” was conspicuously absent, a deliberate omission that sent a thrill through both of them.
That single word, “hubby,” shattered Jayceon’s defenses, leaving him vulnerable and yearning. He tightened his grip around her waist, pulling her firmly into his embrace.
“Kiss me,” he commanded, his voice low and filled with an urgency that made her heart race.
Arabella, feeling unusually compliant, wrapped her arms around his neck and leaned in to kiss him. She took the initiative, gently parting his lips with the tip of her tongue, deepening the kiss with a slow, seductive rhythm.
