**Chapter 269**

As dawn broke, Jayceon found himself standing before the familiar threshold of his home, but the welcoming light he had hoped for was absent. The house was enveloped in a heavy darkness, a stark contrast to the vibrant life he once knew within those walls. The stillness felt oppressive, almost suffocating, as he approached the master bedroom door. With a weary hand, he reached out, his fingers brushing against the cool metal of the doorknob. He turned it slowly, but the resistance he felt told him all he needed to know: the door was locked from the inside.

Leaning against the solid wood, Jayceon closed his eyes, allowing his exhaustion to wash over him. The weight of the world pressed against him, and he felt lost in the shadows of his own home, yearning for the warmth of connection that now felt so far away.

The following morning, Olivia made her way to the hotel, her mind racing with thoughts of financial desperation as she sought out Georgina. She approached her with a determined expression, ready to confront her about the money she had lent. Georgina, however, met her with a vague smile, her eyes darting away as if avoiding the truth. “Olivia, please don’t fret. Just yesterday, Jay handed me a check for ten million dollars as pocket money. I was in such a rush that I completely forgot to take it with me. I promise I’ll repay the money I borrowed from you in just a few days.”

Olivia raised an eyebrow, skepticism etched on her face. “Your son with Mr. Melendez is already quite grown. What’s really going on with the Melendez family? Even if they don’t approve of you, how can they not want the child? It doesn’t make sense.”

Georgina’s smile faltered slightly, guilt creeping into her expression. “Olivia, it’s complicated. Jay isn’t officially divorced yet. He’s such an exceptional man; it’s no wonder his wife is reluctant to let him go.”

With irritation bubbling beneath the surface, Olivia replied, “Well, whatever the case may be, you said you only needed the money for one night. I can extend that a little, but you must pay me back swiftly.”

Just as Olivia turned to leave, Georgina’s phone buzzed insistently, breaking the tense silence. She quickly answered, her demeanor shifting as she hurried out of the hotel, her heart racing with anxiety.

Outside, at a small, bustling restaurant in the southern part of the city, Georgina found herself cornered by Gloria, along with her brother and sister-in-law. They stood there like a wall of accusations, blocking her path and refusing to let her slip away. Gloria’s voice cut through the air, sharp and accusatory. “Georgina, how could you possibly owe so much money?”

Her sister-in-law, fueled by anger, seized the strap of Georgina’s bag, her voice rising like a tempest. “Georgina, you were so intent on marrying into wealth! We poured all our resources into helping you, and you disappeared for six years without a word. We took care of your mother while you were off living your dream. Now that you’re back, you’ve plunged us into chaos with your debts!”
