Georgina felt a wave of anxiety wash over her as she glanced around, fearful of drawing unwanted attention. In a hushed tone, she leaned closer to her sister-in-law, urgency lacing her words. “Sister-in-law, please, keep your voice down. The house I’m living in? It was given to me by Jay. I didn’t purchase it myself.”

Gloria, her mother, looked at her with a mixture of concern and practicality. “Georgina, you have to understand, both of your nephews are boys and they’re in school now. Your brother and sister-in-law are carrying a heavy load. It’s only fair that you lend them a hand. You really should ask Jay for more assistance. Ideally, you should aim to buy two properties, preferably in a top-notch school district.”

Her sister-in-law nodded eagerly, her eyes brightening with the prospect. “If that Jayceon can provide you with a house to live in, he can certainly do the same for us. He’s the wealthiest man in Zelmere! Just a fraction of his pocket money would be enough for us to secure a mansion. If he refuses to help us, we can always go to his company and make a scene.”

Georgina felt a tightening in her chest as she quickly deflected the conversation. “Sister-in-law, please don’t even think about confronting Jay. If you upset him, it will make our lives unbearable!”

In a moment of desperation, Georgina retrieved her phone, fingers trembling as she prepared to transfer some funds to her family. “I’ll send you the money I have right now. You all need to hurry back home and avoid running into Jay. I promise I’ll figure out a way to get more money for you to buy a house.”

After a great deal of coaxing, Georgina finally managed to persuade her family to leave. Alone in her home, a sense of restlessness crept over her.

She was in dire need of funds at this moment, yet Jayceon had not sent her any assistance.

If only she had known how challenging things would become, she would never have let that old hag Tabitha fill her head with ideas of independence, refusing to accept Jayceon’s money.
