**Chapter 291**

Franklin’s lips curled into a warm smile as he nodded affirmatively, “In that case, I’ll gladly accept your offer.” The air was crisp as he carefully placed Edmundo into the backseat of the car, a sense of responsibility washing over him. He quickly dialed Arabella’s number, his heart fluttering with anticipation. “Thank you, Dr. Palmer. I’ve picked Edmundo up,” he said, feeling a surge of accomplishment.

On the other end, Arabella’s voice carried a hint of hesitation, “It’s getting quite chilly out. Did you remember to bring the jacket my mom bought for Edmundo?” Her concern was palpable, and Franklin could almost picture her frowning slightly, biting her lip in worry.

With a light chuckle, he assured her, “I’ve got everything covered. The toys his uncle bought, the Go set from his grandpa, and yes, the jacket too!” Franklin’s confidence was infectious, and he could sense Arabella’s embarrassment through the phone, her cheeks likely flushing a soft pink.

“Dr. Palmer,” he continued, his tone shifting to something more earnest, “if you trust me, I would be more than willing to take on your divorce case against Mr. Melendez entirely.”

Arabella’s voice brightened, her relief evident. “Thank you, Franklin. I really owe you one.” The gratitude in her tone made Franklin’s heart swell, a mix of pride and affection.

After ending the call, he turned to Edmundo, curiosity lighting up his features. “So, Edmundo, how was your time at your mom’s house these past few days?”

Edmundo’s small voice broke the silence, “Dad, other kids’ moms and dads live together. I want to live with my mom and dad every day too.” The innocence in his words struck a chord deep within Franklin, making his heart ache for the child’s longing.

Franklin paused, taking a moment to gather his thoughts. “Well, buddy,” he finally said, “if that’s what you want, then you’ll have to work on it. Maybe you can talk to Mommy and convince her to be with you every day!”

Edmundo scratched his head, contemplating the idea, “Hmm…”

Meanwhile, Jayceon had just returned from a business trip, the weight of his responsibilities heavy on his shoulders. He was summoned back to the old family home by Conrad, who was eager to discuss pressing matters.

“How are your preparations for the shareholders’ meeting in three days?” Conrad inquired, his eyes sharp with expectation.

Jayceon straightened, his voice confident and steady. “The project I brought to Melendez Corp has already reached a preliminary cooperation agreement. If the contract is signed, it will secure over ten years of substantial returns for the company. Honestly, those baseless negative rumors about me don’t even register on my radar.”

Conrad’s pride was unmistakable as he nodded vigorously. “Jay, a man should prioritize his career above all. Nothing else should distract you.”

After leaving the old house, Jayceon found himself driving alone to Arabella’s new home, a sense of urgency propelling him forward. He arrived just after nine, the night air cool against his skin.
