**Chapter 307**

Arabella turned her gaze towards Samuel, her eyes glistening with the remnants of tears that had stained her cheeks. The redness around her eyes was a testament to her emotional turmoil, a physical manifestation of the pain she had been carrying for far too long.

With a feeble attempt at a smile, she spoke, her voice wavering slightly, “Sam, from a young age, I’ve always understood that there are good people and bad people in this world. But I never imagined that the person who would hurt me the most would be the one I hold closest to my heart.”

Samuel felt an ache deep within him, a longing to ease her suffering, but he found himself at a loss for words. All he could manage was a heavy sigh, the weight of her sorrow pressing down on him.

Arabella continued, her voice gaining a touch of strength as she reflected on her past. “He was everything to me. I put him on a pedestal, neglecting my own needs and desires. Looking back now, I realize that in my marriage to Jayceon, I didn’t even receive the basic respect that any partner deserves. And to think I expected him to remain loyal to me—how utterly absurd is that?”

Samuel’s expression shifted, his brows knitting together in concern as he listened intently to her words.

A bitter smile flickered across Arabella’s lips, a mix of sadness and resignation. “When we were together, if I tried to get close to him, he’d accuse me of being clingy. If I expressed my feelings, hoping for some comfort, he’d tell me I was being unreasonable. And if I dared to be a little assertive, he’d label me as dramatic. I convinced myself that was just how he was.”

Her voice took on a more somber tone as she continued, “It wasn’t until I discovered that he had been harboring feelings for his first love all along that I understood it was more than just his personality flaws.”

Arabella’s voice trembled slightly as she recounted the moment of revelation. “When I heard him confess the deep regrets he harbored about not marrying Georgina, the dissatisfaction he felt—my heart sank. It filled me with dread. I became so insecure, terrified of losing him, losing this marriage. Every little frown or hint of displeasure from him made me anxious, and I would bend over backward to change.”

“I spent three years married to him,” she continued, her voice barely above a whisper. “Outwardly, I wore a mask of smiles and laughter, but inside, I was a bundle of nerves. I kept morphing into someone I barely recognized, and yet, it still didn’t stop him from rekindling things with Georgina.”

Feeling the weight of her heartache, Samuel gently placed a hand on her shoulder, pulling her closer. He offered her his shoulder, a silent gesture of support, allowing her to lean into him, to draw strength from his presence.
