Chapter 50
Startled by Kimberly’s sudden cry, Emmett’s hand instinctively grabbed a liquor bottle from the nearby table. Without hesitation, he smashed it loudly against the surface of the coffee table, shards scattering everywhere. In one swift motion, he leapt forward, aiming to strike Jayceon across the head with the broken bottle.
Before the blow could land, Samuel quickly wrapped his arms around Emmett’s waist, wrenching the shattered glass from his grasp. “Emmie, you can’t do this,” Samuel urged firmly, concern etched across his face.
Emmett, tall and lean, wore simple casual pants and a plain white T-shirt that did nothing to diminish his striking appearance. Black and red earphone cords were tangled around his ears, giving him an unmistakable youthful energy. His eyes were bloodshot, burning with a fierce intensity as he pointed accusingly at Jayceon.
“Jay, Bella loves you so much! How could you betray her like this?” Emmett’s voice cracked with a mix of anger and desperation.
Jayceon, holding a tissue in his hand, tossed it aside and rose to his feet. He casually approached Emmett, reaching out to adjust the tangled earphone cables.
“Don’t touch me!” Emmett snapped back, his glare sharp and unyielding, his neck stiffening with defiance.
Jayceon let out a sigh, his tone calm but probing. “Does your sister know you came here to see me?”
Samuel tightened his grip on Emmett’s arm as the younger man lashed out with a sudden kick aimed at Jayceon. “You don’t deserve her. I’ll pay you back every cent, no matter what it takes, so she can divorce you!”
Jayceon frowned, weariness evident in his eyes. “Emmett, Bella and I are not getting divorced,” he said slowly, enunciating each word for clarity.
He then signaled to Samuel to release Emmett and gently took hold of Emmett’s arm himself. “Come on. Let me take you home.”
But before he could move, Emmett swung a powerful roundhouse kick at Jayceon’s head. Jayceon ducked just in time and raised his arm to block the blow. With a firm grip, he locked Emmett’s shoulder, preventing any further attacks.
“I know you’re skilled at taekwondo,” Jayceon said with a hint of a smirk, “but you’ll need a few more years before you can beat me.”
“Jayceon, you bastard!” Emmett spat, rage flooding his voice.
At that moment, Arabella entered the room, her presence immediately shifting the tension. Jayceon released Emmett as soon as he saw her.
Arabella hurried forward, shoving Jayceon aside and pulling Emmett back protectively. She scanned him quickly for any injuries. “Emmie, are you hurt?” she asked, her voice a mixture of worry and relief.
Emmett, tall and solidly built, stood before her with a fierce yet obedient expression. “Bella, when I’m older, I’ll teach him a lesson for you,” he promised with determination.
Just then, Kayla and Roderick appeared, gathering their children and preparing to leave without delay.
