**Her Spark Ignites Tonight**
**By J.S. Caldwell**

**Chapter 61**

As Jayceon spoke again, an unmistakable shift resonated in his tone, one that sent a chill through the air. “Since we can’t agree, there’s no need to discuss this any further.” His words sliced through the tension like a sharp blade, leaving no room for negotiation.

With that, Jayceon turned on his heel and walked away with an air of finality, his back rigid and unyielding.

Arabella remained rooted by the edge of the small river, her heart pounding in her chest as she watched him leave without even a fleeting glance back. The sight of his retreat ignited a storm within her, and she could no longer contain the flood of emotions that had been building inside. Tears of frustration and anger streamed down her cheeks, each droplet a testament to the pain she had been suppressing for far too long.

She had hoped to part from him on amicable terms, to leave behind a semblance of dignity. But it became painfully clear that his indifference cut deeper than she had anticipated.

Even now, at this critical juncture, he still sought to wield her as a mere façade, a prop that would help him uphold his hypocritical image as a devoted family man. The thought left a bitter taste in her mouth.

In the days that followed, the hospital director, under the guise of concern for Arabella’s well-being, began to orchestrate a plan to push her out of her position. Each day felt like a slow suffocation, as she watched her career and dreams slip further away from her grasp.

Then came the fateful call. It was a few days later, while she sat at home surrounded by her parents, that the news arrived like a bolt from the blue. The investment bank’s voice on the other end was all business, devoid of empathy. Her jewelry had failed to sell at auction.

“How is that possible!” The incredulity in her voice was mirrored by her parents, who echoed her disbelief almost in unison.

After the call ended, a wave of worry crashed over her. “Dad, Mom, I didn’t set a high reserve price for the auction house. How could the jewelry go unsold?” The words tumbled out as her mind raced with possibilities.

Kayla Kemp exchanged a worried glance with her husband before speaking up, her voice laced with concern. “Do you think someone might have secretly sabotaged the bids? Stopped potential buyers from placing offers?”

The answer clawed at Arabella’s mind. It had to be Jayceon.

Without a second thought, Arabella reached for her phone to call him, but he didn’t answer. Frustration bubbled up inside her as she grabbed her bag, intent on confronting him. But her parents halted her, their expressions a mix of concern and caution.

Roderick Palmer, ever the voice of reason, tried to ground her. “Even if it was him, Arabella, what good would confronting him do? It could just make things worse.”

She sank onto the sofa, feeling utterly defeated, as if the weight of the world rested on her shoulders.

Kayla moved closer, wrapping her arms around her daughter in a comforting embrace. “Don’t lose hope, sweetheart. We can always explore other avenues, try another firm.”

That afternoon, Arabella found herself meeting with Zachary Hamilton, a glimmer of hope flickering in her heart. Zachary was taken aback by the news of her jewelry’s unsold status.
