But when she spoke, a tremor ran through her words.
“It was Jason, beating Hannah with a cane. The moment Mr. Temple saw it, he had it shut off and sent his people to investigate Jason on the spot.”
“Beating… her?”
Sandra’s eyes widened in horror. It all clicked into place. Jason had sent her several videos. She had carefully selected the ones that clearly showed Hannah’s face as her clothes were being torn off and sent them to her contact.
How had the wrong one been played? Had someone interfered?
“Well, if you had nothing to do with it, then you should get some rest,” Lionel said. He turned to leave, but couldn’t resist one last glance at her.
The moment he was gone, Sandra frantically pulled out her phone, opened her chat history, and clicked on the video file she had sent.
It was over. It was really over. She had sent the wrong video.
Sandra’s face went deathly pale, her hand shaking so badly she could barely hold the phone. She had meant to destroy Hannah, and instead, she had helped her.
Damn it! Why? Why did Hannah have everything? She was already a Temple, and now, because of Sandra’s mistake, her position was even more secure. This shouldn’t be happening. It wasn’t fair!
Sandra retreated back into her room, chewing on her thumbnail, her mind in a complete turmoil. The one chance she had to ruin Hannah had instead made her stronger.
“Wait,” she muttered to herself. “I’m the one who gave them the video!”
A sudden clarity washed over her. She hadn’t destroyed Hannah, but she had created an opportunity for herself. If it weren’t for her leaking the abuse video, how would Mr. Temple have ever known what Hannah suffered? How would he have known to go after Jason?
With this new thought, Sandra immediately began wheeling herself toward the door, intending to go straight to the Temple estate. But she stopped herself. Going now would seem too eager. It would be better to wait until tomorrow.
“You must have sent the wrong gift, didn’t you?”
She had known Sandra long enough to understand exactly what kind of person she was. If Sandra were truly being benevolent, pigs would fly.
“What… how could you say that?” Sandra stammered, shocked. She couldn’t believe Hannah had guessed so accurately. Did the woman have her room bugged? Was her phone tapped?
“Then I suppose I was being too suspicious. In that case, thank you. My grandparents were terribly heartbroken. They’re looking for Jason right now to make him pay.”
Sandra’s heart skipped a beat. Looking for Jason? This was her chance!
