My Deceased Wife Wants a Divorce (Hannah) novel Chapter 355

"But you're not just a fool, you're cruel, too. You betrayed Hannah, and now you're betraying Sandra. If you couldn't commit, you should have just divorced Hannah and married Sandra. Wouldn't that have been better?"

Quennel stood up, walked over, and patted him on the shoulder. "But you've made such a mess of things. If you really go through with taking back all those gifts, it won't just be your reputation on the line, Lionel. You'll bring shame upon the entire Rosenberg family."

With that, Quennel walked out, instructing a servant at the door, "Don't bother preparing dinner for him tonight. He won't be staying."

Lionel stood frozen in place, fuming with anger and humiliation, yet unable to say a word.

What he didn't realize was that while he had only verbally threatened to take the items back and had given Sandra time, Hannah had already sent people directly to the Woods family home to collect everything.

Mr. and Mrs. Woods were stunned when a group of tall, intimidating men, all over six feet, showed up at their door.

"What do you think you're doing! I… I'm warning you, this is a society of laws! Trespassing is a crime, and you'll be arrested! Get out of here right now, and I'll pretend this never happened!"

Mr. David Woods yelled at them, his voice trembling.

But his shouting had no effect whatsoever.

"What are you yelling about? We're here on orders to collect the items belonging to your daughter. If you know what's good for you, you'll hand them over yourselves. Otherwise, we're coming in to get them!"

The man in the lead shouted back even louder, his voice booming.

The commotion at the door was so loud that neighbors started coming out to see what was going on.

Some, who loved a good spectacle, sidled up and asked with false concern, "Mrs. Woods, what's all this about? Weren't all of Sandra's jewels gifts from Mr. Rosenberg?"

"Don't tell me Mr. Rosenberg is taking them back now? That can't be right! He's Mr. Rosenberg! Why would he take back a gift he'd already given?"

"Oh my, could it be that Sandra took gifts from that man she was supposed to marry? And now that she's not marrying him, he wants them back?"

"A young lady shouldn't be so quick to accept things from men, even if her family is going bankrupt!"
