Cherry continued her taunts, “I thought you were so tough, but it turns out you’re just all talk. Can’t even keep your own man in check.”
“See? This is why women shouldn't be too aggressive. If you'd just learn to be a little softer, your man wouldn't get tired of you and go looking for a mistress,” Gary added, chiming in.
The two of them went back and forth, a perfectly synchronized chorus of condescension.
Hannah held up a hand to stop Samuel from speaking and walked over to them.
“So, does that mean you two cheat often?” she asked calmly.
“What kind of nonsense is that?” Cherry snapped. “You’re the one who can’t hold onto your man, and you have the nerve to accuse us? You’ve got no figure, no face, and all you do is run your mouth. You deserve to be abandoned!”
“When a man cheats, you blame the wife instead of the man. What kind of twisted, mistress-like mentality is that?”
Hannah crossed her arms. “A cheater will cheat even if they're sleeping next to a supermodel. Normal people blame the scumbag and the homewrecker. But you two… you must have come from the same womb, your morals are equally warped.”
“Or maybe you’re both so used to being the other person that you feel compelled to provoke the wronged wife every time you see one? Trying to meet some kind of homewrecker quota?”
Cherry was so furious she was trembling, unable to form a coherent response.
“Hannah, are you saying we’re wrong? Your husband cheated on you, didn’t he?”
“Yes, he did. He’s completely shameless. So please, do me a favor and spread the word. Go tell everyone that Lionel is married and that he’s a cheater,” Hannah replied with an indifferent shrug.
Everyone knew Lionel kept his marriage a secret.
If Gary dared to say anything, Lionel would have nowhere to vent his anger, and Gary would become the perfect target.
“You… you malicious woman! The video is gone now. You have nothing to threaten us with!”
Samuel, who had been quiet until now, calmly took out his own phone, pulled up the same surveillance video, and held it out for the two of them to see.
Staring at the identical footage, the siblings were stunned, looking back and forth at each other.
“I'm in a good mood right now, and I don't want to waste it on idiots,” Hannah said. “I have multiple copies of that footage. Go ahead and try to delete them all. I dare you.”
With that, Hannah and Samuel headed upstairs.
It had been a long and exhausting day. She had no more energy to waste on fools. She needed to rest.
