After Hannah said this, the living room fell into a dead silence again.
After a moment, Mary exploded. “I knew it! You two are in this together! This was all a setup, wasn't it? I'm telling you, that recording is real. It's real! I didn't fake anything. I was wondering why you were suddenly being so civil, inviting me over. You were waiting for me. I was a fool to believe you.”
Mary realized she had been played for a fool by Hannah.
She despises our family. Why would she ever believe anything I say or any proof I offer?
“I don't know what you're talking about. All I know is that we Temples don't turn on each other. You must have faked this to frame us. Right, Cherry?”
Cherry froze for a few seconds before catching on. She quickly chimed in, “Yes, that's right! I never made that call. She faked all of it to frame us. Don't believe a word she says. I'm telling you, I never did that! She's trying to sow discord. She's deliberately trying to hurt us!”
“You heard her. You did this on purpose. Fine. We're done here. Show her out. I don't want to waste any more words on you!”
Before Mary could react, she was being escorted out by the house staff.
“Hannah! You did this on purpose! Just you wait! I'm posting this recording online! I'll let everyone know you two ganged up on me!”
