When Lionel found out he might be sent abroad for a project, he was furious. He drove to the Rosenberg family estate late that night.
Mary knew he wouldn't be happy with the plan and would likely come to protest, but she hadn't expected him to show up in the middle of the night.
“I know what Hannah has been posting online has affected our family, but what good will sending me abroad do?”
Lionel tried his best to remain calm as he spoke.
“What else can we do? Sandra's gone. Before, we could have blamed everything on her, but now Hannah is only targeting you. Unless you can drag Sandra back and make her apologize to Hannah!”
Mary never imagined that after she had been so good to Sandra, Sandra would run off and leave them with such a huge mess.
Hindsight is 20/20. She had been too quick to trust her. If she hadn't, none of this would be happening. But it was too late for regrets.
Lionel sighed deeply. “Even if we dragged her back to apologize to Hannah, what good would it do?”
Mary flew into a rage. “You know it's useless, too! Hannah just wants a divorce! The only solution is for you to sign the papers and cut ties with her, understand?”
She stared at Lionel, furious, her chest heaving and her eyes bloodshot.
“Like you said, bringing Sandra back won't work, and sending you away won't work either. Since you know none of it will help, why won't you just sign the damn papers!”
