"Fine! I'd be glad to divorce you! Look at the daughter you raised! Let's get a divorce. We'll go to the courthouse tomorrow and file the papers. You can give me all the remaining assets, and you can take all the debt. If it weren't for you, would I be in this much debt? This is all your fault!"
David didn't say another word. He turned and stormed out, leaving her there, crying uncontrollably.
Edith picked up her phone and tried to call Sandra, but the call didn't go through. She then sent a series of voice messages, telling Sandra how miserable and painful her life had become, begging her to bring her over soon and save her from this sea of misery.
But despite sending numerous messages, she received no reply. She could only assume her daughter was busy.

Sandra saw another call coming in from her mother and ignored it. The next second, dozens of 60-second voice messages flooded her phone, making it buzz incessantly. She was so annoyed she wanted to smash it.
"Your mother must be having a hard time back there," Owen said, trying to comfort Sandra as he saw her about to lose her temper. "Just wait a little longer. Once we're settled here, we'll bring her over."
In reality, he didn't want them to come over either. They were old, in massive debt, and their travel was restricted. They couldn't just buy tickets like normal people; it would require special arrangements. He had no desire to waste time and effort bringing two useless people here, but he had to keep up appearances.
"I'll handle my parents. How's the job search going? I think we need to start our own business. We can't survive just by working for someone else. By the way, before you left, didn't I ask you to copy some important files from Lionel's computer? Did you get them?"
