When Mary returned home, she found Lionel wandering around the house, tapping on walls and fiddling with various antiques, looking for who-knows-what.
The servants saw his strange behavior and kept their distance, thinking he looked like he was possessed.
"What are you looking for? If you need something, can't you just ask a servant to find it for you? You've been back with the Rosenberg family for years and you still have no manners. Get rid of those poor-man habits you picked up from the outside. Do you think we keep so many servants just for show?"
Mary's face, eyes, and voice were dripping with disdain.
"I'm looking for Sandra."
He hadn't even noticed his mother had returned until she spoke.
Mary froze. "What? Who did you say you're looking for?"
"I'm looking for Sandra," Lionel repeated.
After hearing this, Mary was silent for a few seconds before walking over to the sofa and sitting down. A servant immediately brought her a freshly brewed cup of tea.
She took a sip, set the cup down, and said slowly, "You say you're looking for Sandra. And to do that, you're tapping and knocking and turning my house upside down, short of tearing it apart?"
Lionel nodded.
