Chapter 102
Lydia
“They are my flesh and blood.” He insisted. “How is Melanie?” I hate the way he called her name. I don’t want to hear him do so again.
“You only remember to ask after her now?” I sneered.
“Let me make myself clear, Mr. Woods. There are some wrongs you can never right, some mistakes that can never be corrected, and when you walked out of my life five years ago, that was done.” I began walking back to my chair.
I took a tissue and dabbed the side of my face. “I’d appreciate it if you don’t try to corner me in my office or elsewhere. Stay away from me and the twins, and also,” I paused and turned to look at him.
“If you ask as much as try to fight with me for custody, I promise I’ll make your life more hell than I originally intended. Trust me, I can do that now.”
“Lydia, I know you are angry and understand how you feel. We can come to an agreement.”
“No, you are wrong. You do not understand how I feel, and we’re done talking.” I switched on my laptop. “Don’t let the door hit you behind.” I didn’t raise my head until I heard the door open and close.
I released a sigh of relief when he was gone, clutching my chest.
couldn’t concentrate on anything for the rest of the day, so I left. Before I left, I asked Mia to look into the one thing that kept bugging my mind.
“How did Victoria know about Melanie? I had asked Zoe, and she told me she didn’t call her, Zoe sounded sincere, so there
was no need to doubt her.
When I got home, I told Mom about the conversation I,had with Mason.
“Since he already knows, won’t it be best if you just allow him into the twins‘ life?” She asked. I shook
my
head.
“No, I can’t. He will take them away at the slightest change he gets.” I stood from her bed, which I had been eating at, and began pacing the room.
“He already has Julia, who is pregnant.”
“We know Julia isn’t truly pregnant,” Mom reminded me. “That’s for him to deal with. For now, he should focus on his pregnant fiancée.” Mom took hold of my hands and led me back to bed, and we sat.
“Maybe I should leave with the twins.”
Forget about revenge, I would rather be with my babies than have to ever worry about them being taken away from me. And now Victoria knows, I don’t trust her not to harm them.
“I’ll go to a place Mason will never be able to find us.” My entire body shook as I imagined a life without my twins. It was a life I didn’t want to live.

Chapter 102
Mom wrapped one hand around me and pulled me to her. I buried my head on her shoulders and began to cry, Letting all my bottled up emotions out.
Later that evening, Mia sent me a message. Victoria had Zoe tailed. She knew about the twins by watching Zoe closely
As I stood in front of the window, my phone rang, Mason was calling. I ended the call and walked back to the bed.
one more person to worry about, “Victoria.”
I realised aside from Mason, I had
Mason’s POV
Lydia refused to take my calls. All the effort I made to reach her P.A. and ask that a meeting be arranged was in vain. She
was truly set on not seeing me.?
I pulled over a few feet away from her building. Staying here mornings and evenings has become a part of my schedule.
I watched the gate closely, waiting to see the twins‘ car pull out. It has been over two weeks since I saw Lydia at her office. These two weeks have been hell for me. Since she wanted me nowhere close, I decided to give them space. I’ll watch her and the twins from a distance.
I mastered her schedule. She takes the twins to school herself in the morning and brings them back at noon. She returns home early, I guess, to spend time with them.
One hand was on my steering wheel, my eyes trained on the black gate as it slowly pulled open. However, a white Mercedes drove out, in contrast to Lydia’s black Audi.
The front windscreen was wound down. I gritted my teeth when I saw Marcus seated behind the steering wheel. Lydia was seated with him, and the kids were at the back.
Lydia laughed at something he said, and I felt my insides turn. They look happy, like one big happy family, and for a moment, I refused to follow them.
After dropping them off, Marcus dropped Lydia at her office. He stepped out first, opened the door and when she alighted, he pulled her into a tight hug.
4 curled my fist around my steering wheel. That moment my phone beside me began to ring.
Julia’s name appeared on the screen. I have been avoiding her call and had pushed the wedding back without any explanation. I ended the call and turned my phone off.
I watched Lydia enter the building and Marcus drive away.
I pushed one hand into my hair and wiped my face before igniting the engine and driving away.
Julia was waiting for me in my office. She placed her hand on her waist and puffed out her chest when she saw me.
No, I am not ready for this. “You’ve been avoiding my calls, Mason.”
Chapter 102
“I’ve been busy,” I said. I’ve been avoiding everyone. Zoe has been trying to speak to me. But I didn’t have time for her. Mor yet. She promised to explain things, but a part of me wanted to settle things with Lydia first.
“How busy have you been? No one is so busy that they have no time for their child or fiancee. Do you expect me to believe that?” She yelled.
I took off my jacket and hung it by the side before walking to sit behind my table.
“You pushed the wedding back, two times, Mason. Am I a joke to you? Do you have no regard for our child? People are talking.”
I massaged my temples. Her voice soon died out as I remembered Lydia’s words. “You abandoned us first.” I shook my head, wiping the memory.
The image of Marcus pulling her into a hug appeared, and I brushed my hair with my hand.
“Mason, you can’t just outrightly ignore me.” Julia started bringing me back to the present.
