Chapter 73
Mason
Lydia disappeared from the spot she was standing before i got down. I looked around, where could she be?
I found her assistant and pulled her to the side, removing her from the man she was dancing with, “where’s Lydial” She moved away from my hold and glared at me.
“I’m not her keeper. She’s somewhere around.” She didn’t wait for my next words before walking to the hands of the same man.
I walked around, pushing past people. And then, I found her. She looked uncomfortable. A man stood in front of her.
He dared to hit on her? I clenched my list, drawing a deep breath to contain the rage building inside of me.
She extracted herself from him, but he was moving to grab her again. I walked over as fast as my legs could carry me. And in the next minute, my hands connected with his face, sending him across the dance floor,
I grabbed her hand; her eyes were lazy, and she looked at me as though she wasn’t seeing me.
I’ve never seen a drunk Lydia. But she looked so beautiful. I stared down at the man on the floor, feeling the urge to separate his arms from his body. But I let it slide. For now, I need to get Lydia out of here.
I know her; this isn’t her thing.
“Let’s get you out of here,” I said and began pulling her out. She didn’t resist, and from the corner of my eyes, I could see Mia, her assistant, pushing out of the crowd.
“Where are you taking her?” She asked.
“Not your business. She’d be fine.” Since she couldn’t do her job, she left me to step in. She looked like she was about to protest.
“I’ll be fine. He’s no stranger,” Lydia said before Mia released her breath and walked back.
Wait, did she think I was going to kidnap her or something? I scoffed.
We walked towards my car at a slow pace. She dragged her feet on the floor. Soon, she stopped and removed her heels, and was holding them in her hand.
When we got to the car, I opened the door for her. But she didn’t go in.
“Mr. Woods, why would I get into your car? Where do you plan to take me to?” she asked, holding her hand over her chest.
*We need to get you a hangover drink. You are drunk.” I said.
She shook her head, and I could feel she was trying to suppress a laugh.
“I am not.” She said, Then she placed her heels on the floor. She raised her legs, trying to wear the heels, uut she kept missing
them.
“What’s wrong with these…” she cursed, pushing her hair away from her face.
I could see her face clearly, thanks to the light reflection from the poles scattered around; her cheeks were red.

Chapter 73
I don’t say anything for a while. Drunk Lydia is different. I want to see this version more often
I walked towards her and bent down, picking up her heels, I could tell she was staring at me. I held her leg and raised it before sliding it into the heel.
I did the same for the second.
“You didn’t have to. Don’t expect a thank you.” For a moment, I thought she was back; maybe she wasn’t really drunk after all.
But when I looked up to see her staring at me as though she was fighting to keep her eyes open, I knew I was wrong
She stood straight.
“Call Mia, she’ll take me home.” I tried to keep my eyes on her face. She moved her hand to her dress and tugged at it
Her dress exposed her cleavages; her milky white breast was barely covered.
I swallowed. Why would she wear such a… my throat tightened when she pushed her chest out.
“You told Mia not to worry about you, you said you’d be.”
“I changed my mind.” She cut me off. I closed the door, seeing how she had no intention of entering
“I’ll just go by myself. You don’t have to call Mia. Let her enjoy herself, I don’t want to cut her fun.”
She tried to walk but moved to the side, almost falling. My body reacted immediately, and I stretched out a hand, intending to
catch her.
She smiled at me.
“You are drunk, Lydia,” I said. I don’t care about what she said this time. I opened the door and helped her in. I don’t have to force her, as she was willing this time.
I got in, then ignited the engine
open,
I first got her a hangover drink. The windscreen of the car was left allowing the breeze to rush into the car.
She is done with the drink and has her head flung to the side. It will take some time to be a bit sober.
I know I should probably take her home. But I was a bit selfish; I wanted to keep her here with me, so I kept on driving.
I drove around.
She pushed her hair back, looking ahead.
“Where are you taking me to?” She asked. Her voice was clearer this time.”
“A drive.” I said, “We did this often back then when we were together.” I smiled as my mind reverted memories we had together.
to one of the many
“We did?” It was more of a question than a statement, and it had come out too flatly
Was I the only one who remembered the good times we had together?
Chapter 73
I pulled over and stepped out. I walked around and opened the door.
It was the top of a bridge, and she didn’t say a word, and stepped out.
“This used to be your favorite place.” I began and then continued, “One time we came here and ”
“I don’t want to talk about the past; the past is in the past. This is the present, and I intend to live in it.” Her voice was low but stem.
She pressed her temples, then rested her back on the car.
She was different–everything about her.
“You look different,” I said, and she turned her gaze towards me. I walked and rested my back on the car so we were standing side by side.
“And I don’t know which version I like more,” I said.
“I don’t care which version you like more,” Feisty, I like it.
I stood straight and then walked in front of her. Her gaze lowered, she was staring at her feet.
“Why do you hate me?” I asked. She had raised her eyes.
“I know you have something to do with Mr. Arvin.”
“Don’t make assumptions, Mason.” she drew invincible lines with her foot on the floor.
“You don’t have to deny it. But do you know what?” I took a step closer. Oh God, I’m getting crazy. I couldn’t take my eyes off her
chest.
“I don’t care if you did it or not.” It was true. I may not have evidence of what she had done, but even if there were evidence, it would mean nothing.
“I know you are trying to bring me down. I still don’t understand why.” I said.
“You are just being delusional.” She said. I moved my gaze away from her chest.
“You are too weak to handle a rival. You can admit, I’m the only one here.”
